Revelación: ¡Junior Ramón Taliani ganó la Open en Westfalia!

• Lisbeth Vindas gana su tercera al hilo y ya es favorita a su octavo título, mientras que Carlos Muñoz cuenta su primera victoria en Junior esta temporada.

CARLOS ENRIQUE BRENES :: FEDERACIÓN DE SURF

El italo-costarricense y residente de Mal País de Puntarenas, Ramón Taliani de 18 años, se impuso como el mejor corredor de la fecha  al batir en la final a los jacobeños Luis Vindas y Jair Pérez, y al local Luis Castro, en la mayor revelación de surf Open del Circuito Nacional al ganar en su primer participación en una final en las olas de Westfalia de Limón.

Frente a las instalaciones del Restaurante el Pilón, cerca 1.500 personas se dieron cita para presenciar las finales y semifinales del evento que dieron inicio a las 11:00 a.m. entre olas que subieron al menos un metro de tamaño con respecto al día de ayer que fueron de 2.5 metros.

Cayó el sol en Limón y en un gran ambiente  el apoyo tremendo era para el local de Cieneguita, Luis Castro que por más de 10 minutos (de 20) lideró la serie final, pero que Ramón Taliani tenía amarrada gracias a su mejor ola puntuada con 8.00 puntos que metió desde el primer minuto.

Se vino la contra del local que falló esta vez con la selección de olas, situación que sólo controló el seleccionado nacional por Italia en repetidas ocasiones,  sumó sus dos mejores olas en derechas, de frente, y con una fuerte maniobra siempre para iniciar sus recorridos.

Luis Vindas y Jair Pérez jugaron una final más que discreta; la mala suerte estuvo en cada una de sus decisiones de salida ya que se les cerraron las olas y Luis Castro que venía de meter varias de las más altas combinaciones durante todo el evento, esta vez decidió correr izquierdas en la final y sus puntos los sacó sobre las espuma.

Así Taliani metió unos de los puntajes más altos logrados en su carrera como surfista con 14.67, en el que afirma es su momento más importante vivido en una competencia.

El apoyo del grupo de Mal País y Santa Teresa no se hizo ausente y lo recibió con abrazos, gritos y palmadas en la espalda, ya que con esta pegada, esta zona de Puntarenas se lleva el primer oro de la categoría Open. Olman Morales de Santa Teresa había sido lo mejor en la temporada pasada con el cobre.

“Primero quiero agradecer a Dios, a mi familia y a la gente de Mal País que se llevan los méritos en gran parte de este  gane. Es por mucho mi mejor momento en mi carrera, por lo que quiero dedicarle esto a una zona que tiene buenas olas y excelentes surfistas”, dijo Taliani, quien sumó 1.500 puntos  en esta tercera fecha.

Lisbeth ya es favorita para su octavo título

Tres  fechas al hilo hicieron hoy a Lisbeth Vindas de Jacó la primera favorita al título de la categoría Open Femenino, gracias a que recolectó lo mejor que se puede en las citas 4 Estrellas y ahora debe concentrarse en la Gran Final de Junio, esto porque el Circuito hace campeón(a) a la surfista con los mejores cuatro resultados por cita, es decir, puede descartar las tres de menor puntuación.

Sin embargo, de ganar en cualquiera de las tres paradas 4 Estrellas restantes en Tamarindo, Santa Teresa o  Nosara, le complicaría aún más a Nataly Bernold y Jordan Hundley, poder remontar resultados para luchar el título en la final 5 Estrellas de Playa Hermosa de Jacó.

En la final de hoy la actual Campeona Nacional, dio índices de derrota a falta de dos minutos para que acabara la serie; sin embargo, se encontró una larga izquierda  a la que le sacó los 5.50 puntos que urgía y así mandó, una vez más, a Nataly Bernold a la segunda posición de la serie final, su tercera plata consecutiva.

“Yo no me siento aun favorita, falta mucho donde Jordan y Natalie pueden hacer bien las cosas porque el nivel de ambas es muy alto, igual Mariana (Samudio). Sí voy a estar en todas las fechas del Circuito y en todas quiero ganar”, afirmó Lisbeth Vindas.

Y finalmente en Junior, Carlos Muñoz quien no clasificó a las últimas rondas de la Open, se concentró en la sub 18 donde arrasó con la combinación más alta de la fecha y la ola mejor puntuada, 16.00 y 9.17 respectivamente.

Con esto, la Junior en esta tercera fecha ve a un nuevo ganador, después que Maykol Torres de Esterillos se había dejado Jacó y Palo Seco.

La próxima fecha del Circuito DayStar se va a playa Tamarindo los días 13 y 14 de marzo al Torneo Witch’s Rock de categoría 4 Estrellas o 1.500 puntos al ganador en cada categoría.

DAYSTAR 2009-2010 IN PLAYA WESTFALIA

Playa Westfalia, COSTA RICA  January 22, 2010 – The Italian-Costa Rican  resident of Malpais in Punteranas, Ramón Taliani prevailed Sunday at the premier date of the Circuito Nacional de Surf DayStar in Playa Westfalia in Limon, beating in the finals the Jaco residents Luis Vindas and Jair Pérez, not to mention Tamarindo’s Luis Castro. In front of Hotel del Pilón, close to 1,500 people watched the finals and semi-finals from 11 a.m., with waves of at least a meter in size.

It was sunny in Limon and the atmosphere was great, adding tremendous support for the last heats, as Castro mounted a lead for the first 10  minutes, while Taliana lacked a better wave only scoring 8.00 points in the first minutes. He eventually added two better waves—rights with strong maneuvers initiated on the routes. Vindas and Pérez had bad luck in each of their decisions, lacking the ability to find waves. Castro put in some of the highest combinations, but Taliani ultimately obtained the highest points in the race surfing 14.67 in the finals.

The support of the group from Malpais and Santa Teresa was present with shouts and pats on the back, since it was the first time that a surfer from this región won a 1st place trophy in the Open category of the Circuito. Previously, Olman Morales of Santa Teresa had been the best winning 4th place last season.

“First I want to be thankful for God, family and to the people of Malpais who take the credit to a large extent for this win. This is the best moment in my surfing, and the  reason why I want to dedicate the win to the zone is that it has good waves and excellent surfers there,” said Taliani, who adds 1,500 points to his rankings with this win.

With Sunday’s win in the Women’s category, Lisbeth Vindas has now won all three of the Circuito Nacional de Surf DayStar 2009-2010 dates, and that makes her a favorite for her eighth title for Women’s National Surf Champion. The three wins were all 4 star wins, and according to the rules, she can keep the best four results, and eliminate the three lowest.

Nevertheless, to gain a win, and shut Lisbeth out, Nataly Bernold and Jordan Hundley still have the power to overcome her results by winning the remaining dates, which have higher ranking point stars. That could bring a fight for the titled to the finals at Playa Hermosa.

At the end of the day on Sunday, the present Women’s National Champion, Lisbeth, gave indicators of defeat in the last two minutes in her final series, when she pulled a long left and earned 5.50 points that she needed to command the win and push Bernold to the 2nd position of the heat.

“I do not even feel like the favorite, especially since Jordan and Natalie make things happen and the level of both of them is very high, even Mariana (Samudio). Yes, I am going to be in all the dates of the Cicuito and I want to win the title,” affirmed Lisbeth.

And finally, in Junior Carlos Muñoz, who did not classify in the last rounds of the Open, was concentrating on winning the Under 18, where he devated with the highest combination of the date. He came away with  a 16.00 and 9.17 respectively in his last two heats.

With this, the Junior, in this third date of the Circuito, sees a new winner after Maykol Torres took Esterillos and Jaco.

The next date of the Circuito Nacional de Surf DayStar will take place in Tamarindo on March 13 and 14. The Torneo Witch’s Rock will be a 4-star contest awarding 1,500 to winners in each category.
