Quiksilver confirma realización del primer ‘King Of The Groms’ en el país

·         Ganador del evento clasificará a la final latinoamericana en México. Final mundial será en Francia.

Un evento internacional que arrancó a nivel hispanoamericano en Mar del Plata, Argentina, en el año 2005, se ha extendido a Centroamérica tras la confirmación del Quiksilver King of the Groms a realizarse en Costa Rica el sábado 19 de marzo próximo, frente a las instalaciones del Hotel Backyard en Playa Hermosa de Jacó.

Se trata de uno de los eventos internacionales para surfistas con menos de 16 años más exigentes del mundo. El Quiksilver King Of The Groms en Costa Rica, será un torneo disputado por lo mejor del país en categorías menores, más surfistas invitados de Panamá y Nicaragua en busca de una clasificatoria que los lleve a la final latinoamericana a disputarse en Mazatlán, México, el próximo del 12 al 17 de junio. 

En El Salvador, en mayo próximo, se llevará a cabo la segunda clasificatoria abierta para atletas de ese país y Guatemala, donde el ganador irá también a México por un pase para la gran final que se llevará a cabo en Francia los días 25 y 26 de agosto del presente año, previo al Quiksilver Pro Francia 2011, el evento Europeo más importante del año.

Tanto para la final latinoamericana en México, como  la final mundial en Francia, la marca se hará cargo de los gastos, así como la estadía para que puedan vivir el Quiksilver Pro Francia en Hossegor, una parada del Circuito Mundial de la ASP donde se reunirán los mejores 32 del mundo en la actualidad.

La eliminatoria del Quiksilver King Of The Groms, entre otros objetivos en Centroamérica, es venir satisfacer una demanda de fogueo entre la gran cantidad de surfistas con menos de 16 años que han surgido en los últimos años, principalmente en Costa Rica. Solo en la última fecha del Circuito Nacional, se registraron más de 70.

Es por ese motivo, más el punto estratégico que representa el un torneo abierto para costarricenses, nicaragüenses y panameños, el que se realice el evento en el país y en una playa que ofrece olas de alta calidad como es Playa Hermosa de Jacó.

“Por primera vez en Costa Rica tendremos un evento para niños menores de 16 años de Costa Rica, Nicaragua y Panamá donde se podrá demostrar el potencial de surfing que se tiene en Centroamérica”, refirió Ana Laura Rojas, de Quiksilver Costa Rica.   

“Las oportunidades que se les dan a estos niños en nuestra región son bastante limitadas y por medio de este evento ellos podrán demostrar el nivel que manejan y pelear su viaje al Latinoamericano del Quiksilver King Of The Groms que se efectuará en México”, añadió.

El formato en la clasificación estándar a nivel mundial de este evento, dicta que se realizaran eventos en alrededor del orbe en busca de vencedores en Francia, Reino Unido, España, Portugal,  España, Bélgica, Italia, Marruecos, Israel e Islas Canarias por el viejo continente.

Del resto de los continentes clasificarán surfistas de Australia, Estados Unidos, Indonesia, Sudáfrica, Tahití, Japón, Isla Reunión y finalmente Latinoamérica para un total de 32 países, de donde saldrán 46 competidores en total a disputar la gran final agosto en Francia.

Por su parte, Quiksilver se hará cargo de los gastos de traslado, hospedaje y alimentación de los clasificados a las pre-final latinoamericana y la gran final mundial de Francia.

Figuras ticas

Gracias al constante emergente de figuras con menos de 18 años en el país, especialmente en los últimos años, el país está listo para dar Juniors que den la pelea y desde ya nominarse como favoritos para alcanzar la gran final en Francia; no obstante, la prueba en México llevará lo mejor del surf hispanohablante.

Figuras como Noe Mar McGonagle y Leon  Williams de Pavones, Tomas King de Tamarindo, Manuel Mesén y Bruno Carvalho de Jacó, Elija Guy de Santa Teresa y Leonardo Calvo de Barranca, suenan fuerte para lograr un buen papel el próximo 19 de marzo en Playa Hermosa; sin embargo, se espera la participación de unos 60 sub 16 que busquen su boleto a México y Francia.

La Federación de Surf de Costa Rica será la encargada de proveer los jueces, directores de evento y sistema de juzgamiento, es decir, los competidores contarán con los resultados inmediatos después de cada recorrido. 

La inscripción del campeonato la podrán realizar 7 días previos el evento en la tienda Planeta Surf & Skate en el centro comercial Vistana Oeste, Local No. 3 en Lindora de Santana y un día antes, es decir, el viernes 18 en el hotel Backyard. El evento será es de una sola categoría (masculino y menor de 16 años) y no tendrá un costo de inscripción.

Quiksilver confirms the first 'King Of The Groms' in the country
