Costa Rica Surf Report and Forecast for September 2010
By: Greg Gordon – www.crsurf.com
Caribbean Coast – Expect small waves for the majority of the month, but not quite flat. Consistent tropical systems send in surf knee to waist high, and it occasionally will be bigger if a storm brushes closer to the coast.
Pacific Coast – Due to La Niña, this year everyone is predicting a lot more rain, up to 50% more along the Guanacaste coast. This means a greater chance for onshore winds and localized wind swells mixing with continued south swells. The wave size will drop for the first three weeks of the month, from a foot overhead the first week to chest high. The best days look to be the 19th and 20th, when a nice Southwest arrives with some needed relief, and then the waves should stay consistently overhead through the end of the month.
