Podcasts are everything these days, and it’s one of the best ways to learn about something, get to know who the best is in the business at something, and how to get better at any given thing; in this case, surfing. There are plenty of great surfing podcasts out there, but today we’re focusing on the best of the best.

Below, you’re going to find seven of the best surfing podcasts out there, offering up all the best surfing news and talk you need to know. If you’re looking for the best regular surfing podcasts, you’ve come to the right place.

1. The Wire

Not to be confused with the television series of the same name, The Wire podcast is hosted by Firewire Surfboards and not only covers everything a new beginner surfer may want to know about, such as surfing basics and topics, but it also goes so much deeper.

Some of their best episodes have covered topics such as ocean and marine conservation and environmentalism, how to build a surf brand business, and covers the latest and greatest surf technologies that are in development and coming to market. If you’re looking to learn something about the surf world, this is one of the best podcasts to go to.

2. Surf Splendour Podcast Network

As the title suggests, Surf Splendour is a network of podcasts that, like most podcasts, started off small as a single episode show that was hosted by Scott Bass and covered all things surf related. However, as the show grew in popularity, it has expanded into multiple shows that cover more dedicated subjects.

For example, The Grit is another popular show that talks about gossips and rumours within the surfing world. All in all, there’s bound to be something in the Surf Splendour network that’s suitable for everyone.

3. Surfer Life

The Surfer Life Podcast doesn’t follow the typical talk-show format that most podcasts follow, but rather covers everything to do with surfing culture and news. You’ll find the guest list covers people like surfboard makers and designers, and riders from all walks of life.

4. Lipped

Lipped is a fantastic podcast I simply love because it started out small and focused on the usual stuff. Tips, surfing guides, thoughts on surfer things. That kind of stuff. However, over time it’s evolved massively and turned into one of the biggest and best hot topics chat shows there is.

If you’re into your fantasy sports surfing, this is also the place to go since hosts Jim and Cahill have everything you need for the most realistic experience.

5. STAB (Cusp & Unplugged)

While STAB was a little and miss here and there when it was getting going, this podcast show has well and truly established itself as being up there as one of the best. The show has seen many famous faces, including the likes of the 3x World Surfing champion Mick Fanning, and there are few podcasts that can pull him in.

6. Everything is Always Terrible

Despite the name, Everything is Always Terrible is one of the chattiest, funniest, and most engaging podcasts hosted by Rory Parker. What I love about this show is the fact it’s although you’re listening in to a private conversation, but a conversation you’re a part of. Rory is a ruthless host, asking questions and covering topics with his guests that no one else would dare to ask, including mainstream surfers and underground icons.

7. Saltwater High

Wave Tribe is a surf accessory company that uses hemp and recycled plastic in their board boards and leashes. They have an ethic of protecting the environment and welcoming diverse cultures in the sport of surfing. The CSO (Chief Surfing Officer) Derek Dodds, has invited a broad spectrum of personalities to his podcast to be interviewed on issues like surf travel, board shaping, ecology, and surf style. It is definitely worth a listen.

8. Ain’t That Swell

By far one of the greatest, most popular, and most well-received podcasts of them all is Ain’t That Swell. How could it not be with a great name like that? Hosted by Jed Smith and Vaughan Blakey, if you’re into Australian Surf Culture in any way, this is the podcast for you since it emulates it perfectly.

This podcast is one of the most entertaining podcasts I’ve ever listened too period, and covers everything you can imagine, from surf talk to interviews with the hottest surfers around. If you’re in the mood for a high energy show, you may not need to look further than this.
