Overview
Caribbean - The right coast is bombing for the next four days and then will calm down to chest to head by Sunday, with more ENE swell to return by next Tuesday.
Pacific - Not much happening for the rest of the week but a bump in swell coming from the SSW pushes in some head high sets. Then the next bigger SSW arrives on the 30th at 3.4 ft at 14 seconds, meaning overhead waves for most of the coast through next Thursday and a second SW swell bringing 1-2 foot overhead surf all the way through the following weekend.

AREA REPORTS
Northern Nicoya Peninsula
Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 1/21 - The high tides for surfing are moving into the afternoon with off-shores pretty much all day long. The tides are moving quickly at the peak surf times and causing the good wave sessions to come and go with fat high tide full of backwash. The head high swell is the perfect size for Playa Grande and the crowds were thick over the weekend, but have backed off now.
Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 1/21 - Windy days in Tamarindo, plenty of people in and out of the water, waves had been fun and today arrived a new WNW swell with 2-3ft waves, sand bars and point breaks are activated, mid tides are the best bet to jump in and paddle out. Casitas at Playa Grande was really fun within the incoming tide early in the morning, winds are strong holding the wave's face for longer time, it is defenetly a good option close to town, please take the boat ride is only $1 each way, rather than find in a bad way the local wild life in the estuary.
Nosara
Andres at SurfingNosara.com - 1/22 - Another beautiful day and nice conditions guys, no more wind. The waves are a great and big, good size. They run shoulder high to head high with faster shapes and the tide was low.
South Nicoya Peninsula
MalpaisurfCam.com - 1/19 - This morning at 7 am waves were chest to head high with some over head sets. Offshore wind and sunny clear skies. Great waves and good conditions, right before dead low tide waves were pumping. Barrels on the good ones, and just a few surfing, very good session.
Jaco / Playa Hermosa
Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 1/18 - SMALL AND FUN – WAIST HIGH 3-4ft+ WITH LOW TIDE IN THE MORNING – Clean and Beautiful at the Beach This Morning -High Tide late morning – Sun is out strong in Playa Hermosa.
Local’s Corner: – Every Weekend don’t miss the Master’s Surf Series – 4PM on Fridays and the Saturday Surf Series on Saturdays – 4PM in front of the Backyard Bar.
Mark your calendars for the Los Suenos Signature Triple Crown Fishing Tournament - Dates: Leg Two Feb 27- March 2; Leg Three - March 27-30.
The Bamboo Bass Festival 2019 is being held this year at the park at Ocean Ranch Feb 22-24th. Among the artists who will perform in Costa Rica this February include Mr. Carmack, Craze, AC Slater, Stylust, Flava D, Truth, Stööki Sound and Zeke Beats.
Manuel Antonio / Dominical
Luis at Manuel Antonio Surf School - 1/23 - Waves are small in Manuel Antonio, generally around knee to waist high with some larger sets at Playitas. Best place to surf is Dominical and Domincalito. The waves have been varying day to day with generally mellow, shoulder to head high waves. Some smaller one day swells have hit which makes Domincailto perfect with shoulder high waves. Conditions are best in the morning in Dominical as the wind is causing choppy conditions in the afternoon. Domincalito is best two hours before high tide.
Steve Fergus at Jazzys River House - 1/22 - Small surf but no summertime blues. Small but quick...hollow low tides with clean lines but few peaks, mostly long walls dumping hard. Higher tides mixed but with occasional rewarding peaks. Even a few to the sand waves. Playa Hermosa South not as clean or peaky and a bit smaller but not without some random fun conditions. Dominicalito, strangely isn't too small to be worthless at times. Especially for longboarders.
Southern Zone
Colin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 1/22 - Minuscule surf and extreme tides. Light winds. It’s flat. A good day to go fishing! Hot, sunny and dusty most of the day. It’s dry season in Pavones, Costa Rica, and it tends to be hot and sunny most days until about April.
