Envision Festival 2019 is set to take place in Playa Hermosa (Uvita) starting February 28th to March 3rd. There will be thousands of music, art, and yoga fans attending this event and many will want transportation to and from the event. So what is the best way to get there?

Yes, Envision is providing shuttle buses that run from San Jose airport, but they only go at certain times and only go as far as Dominical. From there you would have to arrange a taxi to your hotel or the festival grounds. Buses are inexpensive but it is a hassle to buy tickets, and that means an extra side trip into the city of San Jose. Only one bus daily is non-stop, while the others stop in Jaco, Quepos, and some pull over at every bus that has passengers. However, the best way to get around is to rent a car, van, or SUV. Renting a car is cheapest of course, and you do not need a 4×4 to take the roads to the festival. However, parking inside the festival is on a grass field, which gets muddy and bumpy and a car would possibly get stuck. The preferred rental option is a midsize SUV such as a Hyundai Tuscon. It has full time 4wd, great acceleration for passing on Costa Rica’s two lane roads, larger tires for handling pot holes, and a comfortable suspension. In some of the small SUV’s you feel every bump in the road and the tires are not much bigger than a car’s. A sample price for a mid-sized SUV for the week, with liability and collision insurance, is around $450.00.

Vans are a great option if you have more than 5 or 6 people in your group. They are not 4wd, but have good clearance and are very comfortable to travel in, fitting up to 12 passengers (or at least 8 if you have a lot of luggage). The vans also have luggage racks, if you have surfboards to put on the roof. To rent a van it would cost around $780.00 for the week.
