This trip is made for families and friends that want to surf and give back to the local community. All levels of surfers are welcome, from beginners to experts. You will be able to visit an animal sanctuary, go zip lining in a private nature reserve, hike Manuel Antonio National Park, plant trees, and visit a turtle nesting site. Plus you will be invited to a community beach cleanup. Your lodging will be a private three bedroom, three bathroom townhome only steps to the beach in Dominical.
Day 1 – Arrival at San Jose airport and get private transportation to your lodging in Dominical (3.5 hours drive). Meet your guide and get in a surf before dark.
Day 2 – Surf early (lessons or with a guide) and then get a delicious breakfast. Then go zip lining at Hacienda Baru. There will be time in the afternoon to relax or go for an afternoon surf.
Day 3 – Surf in the morning, then go visit the nursery at Community Carbon Trees in Platanillo. You will learn about the rainforest and help with jobs in the nursery. Then you will be taken to Eco Chontales waterfall to see the efforts of replanting native trees.
Day 4 – Wake up early for a dawn patrol and then ride to Kids Saving the Rainforest, an animal rescue center near Quepos. After a tour of the facility and seeing sloths, monkeys, scarlet macaws, and kinkajous, you will be treated to lunch. Following the tour will be a hike in Manuel Antonio National Park with a guide.
Day 5 – Beach cleanup in the morning and then you will ride to Playa Tortuga to visit their turtle sanctuary and learn about the habits of sea turtles and other marine life. Following the tour will be a visit to Playa Ventanas, a quiet beach with two caves that you can walk through at low tide. There may be opportunities to surf there or later in the afternoon when you return to Dominical.
Day 6 – This day will be left open for you to explore the area more or just relax at the beach.
Day 7 – You return to San Jose to catch your flight (3.5 hours drive)
