Where did you grow and how does it affect how you feel about the environment?
I grew up in the Province of Limón specifically in Siquirres and spent some time in Turrialba. I am a nature lover I grew up in the countryside playing between cattle and chickens in my grandparents’ yard.
My connection with the environment is very strong, since I was taught since childhood that Mother Earth gives us everything we need, as long as we take care of her and respect her.
When did Green Team start and what are your goals for the organization?
The green team started from 2014 when after having had the experience of knowing in depth how the Envision festival handles its event with excellent control of waste and the education of visitors.
With such inspiration, I decided to work for the Community of Bahía Ballena de Osa. Starting to coordinate the control of waste at events in the area and raising awareness about the non-use of single-use plastic. We manage to make the Whale and Dolphin Festival a free-use Plastic Festival today and we encourage the Osa Chamber of Tourism and the Municipality to work together in the Osa Plastic Free Bell.
Our goal as an Organization is to promote being the first destination in Costa Rica Free of Single Use Plastic and to be an example as to the awareness of our inhabitants. As an organization we receive help from private companies, together we are stronger.
What things do you do now to help the environment?
I am working on beach cleaning and the empowerment of more leaders at local and national level, we are working with BM supermarkets to create awareness campaigns together.
We will also be working together with Somos El Cambio Organization of Envision Festival, for planting trees in our area.
What is your plans for the Earth Day in April?
We are organizing a cleaning on the Costanera Sur Highway, and then ending with a Sunset ceremony in Playa Hermosa, to thank the Earth for all that it gives us.
What other things can we do to protect nature?
The environment starts in our Homes … We can be smart consumers, reject all types of single-use Plastic, consume local, support the small merchant, take my bags to the Supermarket.

Donde creció y como afecta como siente sobre el ambiente?
Crecí en la Provincia de Limón específicamente en Siquirres y algún tiempo en Turrialba , soy amante de la naturaleza crecí en el campo jugando entre el ganado y las gallinas del patio de mis abuelos.
Mi coneccion con el medio ambiente es muy fuerte, ya que desde pequeño me enseñaron que la madre tierra nos da todo lo que necesitamos, siempre y cuando la cuidemos y respetemos de ella.
Cuando empezó Equipo Verde y que son sus metas para la organización?
El equipo verde inicio desde el 2014 cuando después de haber tenido la experiencia de conocer a fondo como el festival de Envision maneja su evento con un excelente control de los desechos y la educación de los visitantes.
Con tal inspiración, decidí trabajar en pro de la Comunidad de Bahía Ballena de Osa. Empezando a coordinar el control de los desechos en los eventos de la zona y con la concientización acerca del no uso de plástico de un solo uso. Logramos que el festival de Ballenas y delfines sea hoy en día un festival libre de Plástico de un solo uso y incentivamos a la Cámara de Turismo de Osa y a la Municipalidad a trabajar en conjunto en la Campana Osa Libre de Plástico.
Nuestra meta como Organización es promover ser el primer destino en Costa Rica Libre de Plástico de un Solo Uso y ser ejemplo en cuanto la concientización de nuestros habitantes. Como organización recibimos ayuda de la empresa privada, juntos somos mas fuertes.
Que cosas hace ahora para ayudar el ambiente?
Estoy trabajando en Limpiezas de playas y en el empoderamiento de más líderes a nivel local y nacional, estamos trabajando con Los supermercados BM para crear campañas de concientización en conjunto.
También estaremos trabajando de la mano de Somos El Cambio Organizacion de Envision Festival, para la siembra de Árboles en nuestra zona.
Que es su planes por el dia de la planeta en abril?
Estamos organizando una limpieza sobre la Carretera Costanera Sur, para luego terminar con una ceremonia de Sunset en Playa Hermosa, para agradecer a la Tierra por todo los que nos da.
Qué otras cosas podemos hacer a proteger la naturaleza?
El medio ambiente inicia en nuestros Hogares… Podemos ser consumidores inteligentes, rechazar todo tipo de Plástico de un solo uso, consumir local, apoyar al pequeño comerciante, llevar mis bolsas al Supermercado.

Rechazar – Reutilizar – Reciclar.
