The prestigious private bank in Costa Rica and in several countries of the world, SCOTIABANK has signed a contract with the Surf Federation of Costa Rica for the next three seasons. As of January 2020, the Scotiabank National Circuit will begin on the following dates and beaches:

JANUARY 25 AND 26 – DOMINICAL
FEBRUARY 22 AND 23 – PUERTO VIEJO
MARCH 21 AND 22 – GUIONES
APRIL 18 AND 19 – SANTA TERESA
MAY 23 AND 24 – AVELLANAS
JUNE 20 AND 21 – PLAYA HERMOSA
JULY 18 AND 19 – JACO

“We are very pleased to announce this new sponsorship relationship between Scotiabank and the FedeSURF. For years we have been supported by the best private companies and institutions of the state such as ICE, INS and, now having one of the best banks in Costa Rica fills us with satisfaction and joy for the good recognition of the biggest surfing championship in the country, “said Randall Chaves, President of the Federation.

This signature was given in the framework of the pre-National Surf Day celebration, when the President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado, shared with the community and companies related to the circuit in Playa Hermosa.

“We applaud the impulse of the Costa Rican government to give surfing a place of privilege as a constructive and priority sporting activity for the growth of the country and all the people who practice it. We are delighted that this declaration has been the perfect framework to announce our support for a discipline so close to the hearts of the Ticos, ” added Diego Masola, senior vice president for Central America and General Manager of Scotiabank Costa Rica.

The season will conform once more to seven dates and visit, as usual, seven of the most important destinations nationwide for surfing.

This 2019, the National Circuit was a real crazy in terms of participation of competitors from all parts of the country. On three occasions there were more than 200 competitors and on one occasion more than 300.

Thanks also to the effort in infrastructure investment that the Federation made in 2018, the competition site from two podiums was a success, which is why the championship today is designed to support a large presence of competitors who enjoy judging systems, sound, platforms and priority, totally independent of each other.

The judging system used by the Surf Federation today is the latest generation. In fact, the International Surf Association included the same to its world events.

The season was attended by the stars of the country at the time they were in the country such as Tomás King, Anthony Fillingim, Noe Mar and Leilani McGonagle, Carlos Muñoz, among others.

Thus, this inclusion of Scotiabank with surfing, also reached its first ambassador in Costa Rica, Carlos Muñoz Herrera, who is fighting for a position in the WCT next year.

“I am very happy to be part of the Scotiabank family. It is an important step to be part of such a prestigious company supporting my professional career. Scotiabank is a brand that helps new generations and support talents and in that sense we are going in the same direction. They will go hand in hand with national surfing now that they are sponsors, ”said Muñoz.

“The National Circuit has been and will continue to be the great hotbed of national surfing. As a Federation we have committed ourselves enormously to the Olympic cycles and that is why this championship functions as the maximum training event that produces the first figures that jump to the international level to then be our great representatives,” added Chaves.
