Playa Grande

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas

10/5 - We are enjoying a classic “temporal” or tropical storm here in Playa Grande.  Without the typical off-shores the surf is messy, even though the size is perfect.  Between the rain squalls a few surfers are  braving it, but it is better to let this stormy weather pass for a few days and check the weather reports.

Playa Grande will be the first accessible surf spot to get off-shores on the Gold Coast as the dry season approaches.

An “el Nino” weather pattern is predicted for this year so get ready for an early and strong surf season.  It could start in a few weeks.

Tamarindo

Seafari Costa Rica

Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica

10/5 - Stormy days all along the country, in Tamarido the ocean is messy and choppy, it is reccommended to stay out of the water, there is a strong undertow, plus all the sediments from the river is dumped into the ocean which may hurt your belly or there may be large trees underwater. Lifeguards are on duty but do not risk your self needlessly.

Due the strong winds along the Pacific coast surf has been affected, on shore all day, mostly rainy for at least 2 days now.

Steve Fergus at Jazzys River House

10/5 - Messy morning session with some head high chocolate brown waves after two days of hard rain.  Not much shape, two out at the river-mouth without much luck.  Many changes to the beach profile during the past rains.

Playa Hermosa cleaner than Dominical but smaller as usual and Dominicalito somewhere in between as usual.  No point action.

Hotel Roca Verde is the live music spot on Thursday featuring Dave Bohn with his popular selection of oldies.  Come for dinner and request your favorite tunes.  Check www.jazzysriverhouse.com for low season deals and specials.  Or come by and visit Ruby in her home studio/gallery.  View her latest fine art creations and ask about her popular class.  See Steve if you are troubled with aches and pains as his East/West massage therapy can be most helpful.  Steve also teaches surfing and sells and rents boards.  See Steve also for individual yoga instruction.
