The surfing high tides are in the afternoon now, but the off-shores are working on many mornings and the rain is intermittent.

The swell has been in the head high range and perfect for Playa Grande but for the last few days it has blown out before the tides got right. Almost nobody out.

If you want to help protect the turtles and don’t come by motor boat to Grande and avoid the motor boat tours in the estuary to conserve the salt water forest in the park.

Bring insect repellant, sun screen, and rain gear - a girlfriend/boyfriend wouldn’t hurt.

Take the ferry boat to Tamarindo and avoid the toothy wildlife.

Clean conditions in the morning sessions, wave 1-2ft on the best sets, glassy days, winds are shifty through the day, not a typical rainy season in Guanacaste, few random showers every other day. Not too crowded line up due low season and wave size, strong paddling will help to catch more waves on your long board or SUP.

Guiones is a good spot when swell conditions are minimum, 2-3ft within mid tides, long rides and glassy days under some clouds and lil bit of sunshine.

Surfing has a method of learning. First step is with a big board in small waves. Once you have that board dominated you move to the next step. Many people think they can skip these steps. Very few can and the results are stinky style, bad habits, and you are endangering yourself and others.

Try out surfing is the entry level surf lesson, ISA certified instructors that will share safety and surf etiquette tips, besides personalize the coaching to each participant.

Special Fall break 10% off for the 3 days / 3 private-progressive surf lessons in Tamarindo, value of US$ 120.

Bigger sets a little overhead this morning at lower tides with almost glassy conditions. Only a handful out at the river mouth. Good shape, clean conditions given the rough weather.

Playa Hermosa South also offering fun waves - smaller than Dominical but nice. Too small for Dominicalito and Punta Dominical.

Hotel Roca Verde continues to host live music on Thursday nights with Ken Nickel and his long list of covers and originals. Come in for great food, great music at a beautiful beachfront family venue

Check www.jazzysriverhouse.com for low season deals and specials or come in and visit Ruby-Kim in her home gallery/studio and view her artwork. Be sure to ask about her ever popular class which she calls 'Plant Part Art'. Learn the ancient skills of weaving, plaiting, twining, sewing, etc... Also see Steve for relief from muscular aches and pains as his East/West massage therapy can be most helpful.
