The small shoulder/head high surf is pretty good right now in spite of the tropical wave and rain hitting the rest of Costa Rica.
The surf forecast looks pretty good for small surf for the next few days. Expect some rain here and there and bring insect repellant and sun screen. We are still waiting for our off shore Indian Summer with lots of transitional type weather. Think south Florida in the rainy season.
If you want to help protect the turtles and don’t come by motor boat to Grande and avoid the motor boat tours in the estuary to conserve the salt water forest in the park.
Bring insect repellant, sun screen, and rain gear - a girlfriend/boyfriend wouldn’t hurt.
Take the ferry boat to Tamarindo and avoid the toothy wildlife.

Fun times for long board rides in Tamarindo, double session days and overcast sky, 2ft waves and up to 3ft fast and hollow at the river mouth, worked better within th out going tides, light on shore breeze was not strong enough break the water's surface. Its farily crowd out there, mainly by beginers, so if you have higher level of surfing, better paddle to the river mouth or the point breaks, also, across the river its wroking really good.
Marbella has been more exposed to the 210 S swell, with up to 4-5ft waves, solid and fairly consistent, not too crowded and working better with the mid tides. No strong winds either but rain has been more frequent over there.
Sing into the fun life time experiences Seafari Costa Rica has to offer, certified instructors and professional surf guides will either teach you how to surf from entry level lessons/programs or show you the best breaks along the Northern coast of Costa Rica.
