Overview
Caribbean - The surf will drop down a foot to head high for Tuesday and Wednesday, but then another ENE arrives, this time with bigger waves, reaching double overhead by Saturday and Sunday on the reefs and 2-3 feet overhead at the beach breaks. It will drop a couple of feet by next Tuesday, but more swell should follow.
Pacific - A decent sized Southwest swell arrives late Wednesday (2 ft at 16sec) and brings head high waves to most of the coast. It stays chest to head for the rest of the week, and a SSW swell (2.4 ft at 12 seconds) keeps it that size for the weekend and into the New Year. A bigger SW arrives next Saturday pushing in 1-2 feet overhead waves (if the models stay accurate).

AREA REPORTS
Northern Nicoya Peninsula
Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 12/24 - The surfing tides are in the afternoon now and should start moving into the morning slot before this weekend. The wind is off-shore all day, almost every day, and the waves have been small and good in the head high range on the better sets with light crowds and warm water. The swell has had enough west in it to keep the Tamarindo crowd at home. Be ready to party after Christmas day.
Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 12/17 - Off shore winds are back to the North Pacific Coast, Tamarindo's river mouth epic rights are lit with the fading mix of SSW and NW swell, 2-3ft within the change of tides, sand bars are very crowded, although there are waves for all, point breaks like Henrry's and Pico Grande are activated and consistent, giving plenty of room to the more advanced surfers. Be aware of the consistent winds, because its direction pushes people off to the rocky points. Casitas at Playa Grande, has been working with the swell direction with solid 3 ft waves, uncrowded line up and slightly sheltered from the strong gusts of wind. Totally worth the $2 round trip on the taxi boat, to avoid the river local (crocs) and have fun away from the beginners in Tamarindo.
Nosara
Andres at SurfingNosara.com - 12/24 - Feliz Navidad everyone, super fun morning with super fun conditions. Light wind ocean super clean, and waves running chest to shoulder high with long shape. It's Christmas in town - just go slow and take care.
South Nicoya Peninsula
Mal Pais

Jaco / Playa Hermosa
Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 12/24 - SMALL FUN 2-3ft+ Clean and Beautiful at the Beach This Morning -Low Tide in the morning. Sun is out strong in Playa Hermosa and some holiday swell to fill in for the end of the week. Jaco
Chuck at WOW Surf Shop - 12/24 - Surf today 2-4 ft. at Hermosa with great weather and clean conditions, plenty people in town and sales are good. If you need help with anything even if it’s just advice feel free to call or come by, we will give our best advice and experience - it’s free !!!! Merry Christmas !!
Manuel Antonio / Dominical
Luis at Manuel Antonio Surf School - 12/24 - The swell is small, with waist high waves. In Manuel Antonio it is a bit smaller. Dominical will see some bigger sets.
Steve Fergus at Jazzys River House - 12/24 - Summer surf for the past week with small fast hollow waves at lower tides. Size picks up at higher tides and conditions remain good with fairly clean straight lines unless the wind interferes causing chop and other wind related problems. Blue sky and bright sun have plagued mid-day surfing so take care of your skin. Playa Hermosa and Dominicalito are also fairly clean these days but as always smaller and mellower than Dominical. Holiday season crowds so far are down from previous years.
Southern Zone
Colin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 12/24 - Ankle to knee high 1-2ft Surf Report: The surf is pretty small today again but a bit bigger then yesterday. Looking at ankle to knee high waves this morning with glassy conditions. Couple hours before high tide might show some nice peelers on the closer sandbars for a longboard.
The Caribbean
Solspot - 12/24 - 5-7 feet with a dominant ENE med-period swell. Primary Swell: 10.2ft. 8.6 seconds 72 degrees (ENE). East-Northeast med-period swell decreasing Tuesday but a new ENE arriving Friday.
