TIDES for February 27th, 2019

High Tide: 7.29 feet at 9:01 a.m.
Low Tide: 1.45 feet at 2:59 p.m.
(add ~50 min. each day)

New Moon - March 6th

National Forecast

Caribbean 5-7 ft. 4-5 ft. 2-4 ft. 2-3 ft. 2-4 ft. 1-2 ft. 1 ft.
North Pacific 3-4 ft. 2-4 ft. 2-3 ft. 2-4 ft. 2-3 ft. 2-3 ft. 1-2 ft.
South Pacific 3-4 ft. 3-4 ft. 2-3 ft. 2-3 ft. 2-3 ft. 2-3 ft. 1-2 ft.

Caribbean - Quickly dropping ENE swell. Get on it while you can because the waves go from chest to head Thursday down to nearly flat by Sunday. More ENE on the way, but not until next weekend.

Pacific - South swell with a 14 second period arrives this morning and keeps it chest to head high through Friday. Then there's a weaker SW swell 1.5 ft. at 14 seconds that helps add to the wave count, but by Sunday it's mostly waist to chest, and by Tuesday even the chest high waves are few and far between.

Northern Nicoya Peninsula

Playa Grande

Hotel Las Tortugas

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 2/25 - The small, head high surf has been good all week with some good afternoon sessions to go along with the early morning sessions.  Every once in a while it bumps up a foot or two.  The good conditions for morning surf should continue into the weekend.  Everybody is here, since most of the other surf spots are not breaking, so come prepared to share.

Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 2/24 - Small conditions for Tamarindo, waves range 1-2ft of warm water, sand bars are working at its best within the high tide, surf schools are busy at the sand bars and river mouth activated within the lower tides; looking forward to the double session week ahead of us! Langosta has been more active the last few days, 2ft solid and random 3ft waves roll by on the different point breaks, works better within mid tides, morning sessions are rewarding due the lack of crowd and light breeze, due the change of moon the winds are shifty in the early afternoons and slow down for sunset sessions.

Sunday--Beachfront dining at La Palapa with Joe and Luiz providing the music!! 5:30-9:00
“Basics of Surf” is a private entry level program by Seafari Costa Rica, whether 4 or 7 days; 2 hour progressive lessons and surf trip. Book thru CRSURF Travel and save up to 5%

Surfing NosaraChico at - 2/26 - Another beautiful morning, the waves are good and little, they run waist high to chest high, with the high tide, and occasionally the good sets coming and little offshore wind.

South Nicoya Peninsula

Mal Pais Surf - 2/25 - This morning at 6 am waves were knee to waist high. Light off shore wind and sunny clear skies. High tide session, good conditions, small and open waves. Not many people surfing, not many waves neither. Might get better as the tide drops.

Manuel Antonio / Dominical

Greg at Jazzys River House - 2/27 - Waves have been waist to chest high all week with nice offshore winds all morning and light onshore in the afternoons with a glass off right before dark. The best bet for size is Dominical, but if you want empty waves, then head north at higher tides to Matapalo or Playalinda where it is smaller, but empty. Surf will be head high today from a new SSW swell but will slowly drop back to chest high for the weekend and in to next week.

Hotel Roca Verde is offering live music each Friday night currently with one version or another of the G-String Cowboys with Nancy Buchan, the electric electric fiddler all star.  Check for discounts and specials or come by and visit artist Ruby Kim in her studio/gallery.  Ask about her popular class which she calls 'Plant Part Art'.  Learn the ancient crafts of weaving, plaiting, twining, sewing etc...  Check with Steve if in need of relief from body aches and pains as his East/West Massage Therapy can be helpful. See Steve also for surf lessons, board sales and rentals and private instruction in Traditional Taoist Internal Exercises.

Southern Zone

Una Ola Pavones Surf CampColin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 2/25 - The waves were tiny with knee high surf conditions most of the day.  The wind was on it early, but cleaned up this afternoon, as the rains passed through.

The Caribbean

Salsa Brava

Solspot Surf Forecast

Solspot - 2/27 - 6-8 feet with a dominant ENE med-period swell. Primary Swell: 12.6ft. 9.5 seconds 72 degrees (ENE). Medium size ENE swell fading through the rest of the week.
