Overview
Caribbean - Some consistent ENE wind swell (8 second period) will keep waves chest to head high at the better beach breaks. The surf will stick around through the weekend at about the same size.
Pacific - Dropping surf to end the week, down to knee to waist for most of the coast Friday. Then there's a bump to chest high from the SSW and the big news is a 2.2 ft. at 20 seconds swell from 197 degrees (more south than usual) that will max at 5 feet at 15 seconds by next Friday. So next weekend will be optimal with the high tides in the mornings.

AREA REPORTS
Northern Nicoya Peninsula
Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 4/2 - The high tides are moving into the afternoon slot this week and the wind has been unpredictable and often on-shore in the afternoon. The head high swell is a great size and direction in case the wind cooperates.
Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 4/1 - Tamarindo has been a lot of fun 3-4ft waves, double session days, off shore winds until mid week, River mouth and Henrry's Point were lit with the mid tides, not so crowde line up on the point breaks, although a different story at the sand bars. Grande work its way thru this NW swell, 4ft solid waves, sets with up to 8 waves every 30 minutes, and a competitive crowd as it can be Grande on good days.
Nosara
Chico at SurfingNosara.com - 4/3 - Another beautiful morning guys with small waves and low tide, the are closed and little current the south. They size are waist high to chest high, at the occasionally the one set is coming and little offshore wind.
Jaco / Playa Hermosa
Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 4/2 - FUN Fading SSW Waist Chest High 3-5ft and sun coming out for the weekend here in Playa Hermosa – reinforcing SSW to fill in for the weekend.
Local’s Corner: – Every Weekend don’t miss the Master’s Surf Series – 4PM on Fridays and the Saturday Surf Series on Saturdays – 4PM in front of the Backyard Bar.
Manuel Antonio / Dominical
Luis at Manuel Antonio Surf School - 4/1 - The swell has hit. It slowed down a bit today but there are still remnants and we expect a little tomorrow as well. The conditions today were very choppy due to wind. In Manuel Antonio the waves were 3-4 feet. Dominical they were a bit bigger but very choppy. Best place to surf for learning in these conditions was Dominicalito. Best time is 1-2 hours before high tide or after. It was choppy but not as choppy as Dominical and the sets still produced some solid shoulder to head high waves.
Steve at Jazzys River House - 4/3 - Early morning low tide session was small and thick with long walls dumping hard and fast. 4' - 5' with regular barrels; clean conditions but mostly long wall close-outs. Small crowd under blue sky. Afternoon higher tide somewhat blown out with overhead hard driving walls buffeted by strong side-shore winds. Not the prettiest of conditions. Hermosa South smaller but just as scrappy and The Point emptyhanded and Dominicalito with a few fun waves at higher tides.
Hotel Roca Verde is the spot for live music each Friday night featuring the 'G-String Cowboys' with Nancy Buchan adding high excitement with her electric fiddle. Come early for great food, great live music amid the beautiful beachside venue.
Southern Zone
Colin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 4/3 - The swell has faded away for the most part, and was pretty flat! Wind was on it early and never backed off.
The Caribbean
Solspot - 4/3 - 3-4 feet with a dominant ENE short-period swell. Primary Swell: 6.9ft. 7.5 seconds 73 degrees (ENE).
