AREA REPORTS
Northern Nicoya Peninsula
Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 4/8 - The morning cycle of surfing tides are beginning and the wind is holding off-shore in the morning. Even though the afternoon sessions have been on-shore, everyone seems to be having a great time in the little surf with makable smooth sections. The good conditions should continue through the week if the budding new swell doesn’t get too big. Check out our new Surf Line live camera. It should be up and running by the end of the week. You can record yourself surfing after your go-out by replaying the session if you surf in front of the camera.
Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 4/9 - Its been a really fun double session week in Tamarindo, 1-2ft solid sessions at the sand bars, then up to 3ft on the best sets at the point breaks and the river mouth. Spring break is fading fast, therefore the crowd at the lineup is mostly locals and residents. Winds are now shifting early by 9-11am also the humidity announces a potential rainy days by the end of April. Avellanas river mouth and Lil Hawaii had been lit up with 3-4ft solid wallls within the mid tides, busy lineup, although there are enough waves for all this days.
Nosara
Chico at SurfingNosara.com - 4/12 - Another beautiful morning and weekend guys, the wave had really good size with faster shape and more big than yesterday. The size is head high to couple feet overhead, and the occasional big set coming, and a little offshore wind.
Jaco / Playa Hermosa
Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 4/6 - FUN Fading SSW Waist Chest High 3-5ft and sun coming out for the weekend here in Playa Hermosa – reinforcing SSW to fill in for the weekend.
Local’s Corner: – Every Weekend don’t miss the Master’s Surf Series – 4PM on Fridays and the Saturday Surf Series on Saturdays – 4PM in front of the Backyard Bar.
Manuel Antonio / Dominical
Steve at Jazzys River House - 4/10 - Small, inconsistent surf at Dominical; 3' - 4' with a strong offshore for the morning higher tide sessions, a little smaller at lower tides. Scrappy sideshore winds causing the usual damage during mid-day. Small crowds for the most part and yet overall plenty of fun shoulders and even a few short barrels - quick and thick. Hermosa South even smaller and less consistent and as usual less intense. Dominicalito a mixed bag of conditions but not without some fun long rides now and again at higher tides. Unsettled weather lately - seasonal transition time from dry summer to early rainy season perhaps.
Hotel Roca Verde is the spot for live music each Friday night featuring the 'G-String Cowboys' with Nancy Buchan adding high excitement with her electric fiddle. Come early for great food, great live music amid the beautiful beachside venue.
Southern Zone
Colin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 4/11 - The swell seems to be holding with waist to shoulder high waves in glassy wind conditions most of the day. It was best on the dropping tide at the corner. It rained last night, and was mostly cloudy this morning, turning sunny later, but looks like it might rain again later. It looks like the rainy season is starting to show in Pavones, Costa Rica. This has been one on the longest, hottest dry seasons we’ve seen in years. Looking forward to more rain.
The Caribbean
Solspot - 4/12 - 3-4 feet with a dominant ENE short-period swell. Primary Swell: 6.9ft. 7.5 seconds 73 degrees (ENE).
