Overview
Caribbean - It's another small week of surf on the Caribe side with maybe a few knee high waves at the beach breaks, but otherwise flat until next Tuesday when a small ENE swell pushes in some waist high waves.
Pacific - The current SSW (197 degrees ) is fading out with only a background SW swell keeping it waist to chest high for the weekend. Then a new SSW arrives (215 degrees - 2.3 ft at 15 seconds) that will fill in next week, providing some overhead sets for the rest of the week.

AREA REPORTS
Northern Nicoya Peninsula
Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 5/1 - Conditions are excellent for the head high swell with the morning high tides and steady off-shores till nearly noon. The high tides will move into the afternoon slot after the weekend and the off-shores might not be holding through the tide. There is some humid weather now in spite of the drought conditions and the sea breeze in the afternoon really cools things down a bit.
Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 4/30 - SSW swell in the close future, looking for 2-3ft waves in Tamarindo, amazing North winds until noon, then switch from SW. Crowded sand bars, surf schools remain busy after the holidays. Langosta beach is looking fun for the upcoming swell, mid tides are the best option for better waves.
Nosara
Chico at SurfingNosara.com - 5/1 - Very good morning guys, a nice day, after the rich rain last night. Beautiful clean ocean today, the wave so good and fun, the same size as yesterday, they run shoulder high to head high with the tide was high, and occasionally a good set coming and little offshore wind.
South Nicoya Peninsula
Mal Pais
Solspot - 5/1 - 4-6 feet with a dominant SSW med-period swell. Primary Swell: 3.7ft. 15 seconds 213 degrees (SSW). Southwest long-period swell decreasing and a secondary South windswell decreasing.
Jaco / Playa Hermosa
Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 4/30 - HOT HOT HOT – SW / SSW 3-5fT and building. Outlook is good the next few days.
Local’s Corner: – Every Weekend don’t miss the Master’s Surf Series – 4PM on Fridays and the Saturday Surf Series on Saturdays – 4PM in front of the Backyard Bar.
Manuel Antonio / Dominical
Luis at Manuel Antonio Surf School - 4/30 - There was a lot of wind today and there were about 3ft waves. The best times to surf without rip current is in the afternoon this week.
Steve at Jazzys River House - 5/1 - This morning's lower tide period was a surf desert. No one out. Nothing to ride. Short 3'-4' walls with no decent shoulders. Nice clean conditions however; straight lines, offshore breeze, which might mean things will improve as the tide rolls in. Onshore winds have plagued the midday sessions lately so maybe the late session will be the best.
Hotel Roca Verde is the spot for live music each Friday night featuring the 'G-String Cowboys' with Nancy Buchan adding high excitement with her electric fiddle. Come early for great food, great live music amid the beautiful beachside venue.
Southern Zone
Colin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 4/30 - The surf was pretty fun this morning with chest high waves to about shoulder high on the sets. It was glassy early, and the winds remained calm all afternoon. Should be good for a glass off session later this evening.
The Caribbean
Solspot - 4/30 - 5-6 feet with a dominant ENE med-period swell. Primary Swell: 9.5ft. 8.9 seconds 69 degrees (ENE). East-Northeast med-period swell steady.
