Caribbean - The small surf is going to get smaller towards the end of the week. Down to micro-size through next Wednesday when a minor ENE swell pushes in a few knee to waist high waves by next Thursday.
Pacific - A powerful 4.9 ft at 15 seconds SSW swell arrives late Thursday (207 degrees ) and will push in surf 2-4 feet overhead through the weekend. It's backed up by another SSW arriving Tuesday (212 degrees - 4.2 ft at 16 seconds) that will keep it way overhead (to double overhead) through to next weekend.

AREA REPORTS
Northern Nicoya Peninsula
Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 5/7 -The “El Nino” off-shores are still blowing and we have had some good afternoon sessions this week in the just overhead range. In a day or two the morning tides should have enough water for early morning off-shore surf with the windows getting bigger as we approach the weekend.. The conditions are a little tricky now because of the cloudy conditions and the possibility of rain and unpredictable wind directions. Check out our live Surf Line camera.
Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 5/7 - Tamarindo has been pretty flat until a glance of the SW swell arrived this morning, then the River Mouth got it all and everyone paddle out while the tide still go out. 2ft solid and not very frequent sets, gave the adrenaline rush needed to start the day. Not very busy line up out there, although the sand bar was packed with the local surf schools and beginners; glassy and wind less conditions, a rest from the sun with overcast sky. Langosta should be fun the rest of the week within the changing tides. Only one way to find out... be there!
Nosara
Chico at SurfingNosara.com - 5/8 - Another beautiful morning with fun and good waves guys, great conditions today the size are shoulder high to head high, with the tide was high low, at the occasionally the good set coming and little offshore wind.
South Nicoya Peninsula
Mal Pais
Solspot - 5/8 - 2-3 feet with a dominant SSW med-period swell. Primary Swell: 2.2ft. 12.2 seconds 213 degrees (SSW). Secondary Swell: 1.7ft. 15.5 seconds 217 degrees (SW). Small Southwest med-period swell holding plus Southwest long-period swell steady.
Jaco / Playa Hermosa
Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 5/7 - FUN FUN FUN – EASING SW / SSW 3-5ft AND good shape – LONGER PERIOD SWELL ON THE HORIZON- Low Tide Coming Mid Morning.
Local’s Corner: – RIP CURL GROM SEARCH MAY 16th -19th here in Hermosa at the Backyard – Come Check out some of the up and coming young talent — Also – it is waiting period for Roca Loca Pro único INVITACIONAL DE OLA GRANDE DE COSTA RICA — Every Weekend don’t miss the Master’s Surf Series – 4PM on Fridays and the Saturday Surf Series on Saturdays – 4PM in front of the Backyard Bar.
Manuel Antonio / Dominical
Luis at Manuel Antonio Surf School - 5/8 - The waves are 3ft right now. There is some wind from the southeast in the afternoon. The best time to surf right ow is in the afternoon for high tide. There is a normal amount of rip currents.
Steve at Jazzys River House - 5/8 - Unruly surf today due to inclement weather. The lineup was a sloppy mess much of the day. 3' - 4' mostly closed out but there were a few diehards taking short drops that went nowhere. A 'ruffles have ridges' day at Dominical. Playa Hermosa, Dominicalito and the point fared no better today meaning for surfing it was a good day to watch Endless Summer for the twentieth time.
Southern Zone
Colin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 5/8 - The surf was weak, warbled and super crowded for what was on offer. The wall is full of anxious visitors searching for the first signs of a new swell. High tide at first light, dropping all morning. The winds were on it early, but are glassing off as I type this surf report.
The Caribbean
Solspot - 5/8 - 4-5 feet with a dominant ENE med-period swell. Primary Swell: 8.1ft. 8.3 seconds 73 degrees (ENE). East-Northeast short-period swell slowly fading.
