Overview
Caribbean - It is flat as a pancake right now. Amazing snorkeling if that is what you are looking for. Not expected to grow at all for the next week.
Pacific - Sunday is the smallest day with chest to head high surf, but then it slowly grows from overhead to 3 feet overhead by Tuesday (up north) and Wednesday (farther south). This is from a SSW swell, maxing at 4.8 feet at 15 seconds from 211 degrees. Another SSW pulse (from 207 degrees) keeps it week overhead through next weekend.

AREA REPORTS
Northern Nicoya Peninsula
Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 5/31 - The overhead surf in Playa Grande has been mostly sloppy with the rainy weather of the last week even though the tides have been high in the morning. The off-shores are still trying to break through and as soon as this typically seasonal weather gives us a break, we should start seeing some good conditions again. Bring a rain coat. Don't forget to check the LIVE web cam from the roof of our hotel on Surfline.
Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 5/31 - Weather in Costa Rica just got better, a tropical storm was around for 10 days that felt like 3 weeks. That was good amount of water for the soil and the humans. Wave conditions are quite stormy, a combo swell amongst 185 to 227 degress SWS with th shortes period of 4 seconds to the higher of 13 seconds, those show up more often along the higher tides, that at noon, by then the wind is shifting from south, 2ft, 3ft some 4ft far out on the reefs, murky water and a surprising inside crowd, May and June are usually not this busy. Langosta within the lower tide over the pole 8 at the National Park, has been really fun waves, mostly steep, A-framed choppy ride but no crowd and that makes it the best sessions.
Nosara
Eli at SurfingNosara.com - 5/31 - Another sunny morning with good and fun waves. The size is chest high to shoulder high and a little offshore wind.
Jaco / Playa Hermosa
Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 5/27 - MIX SW / SSW SWELL EASING 4-6ft – Shorter period SW filling in — MIXED CONDITIONS DUE TO RAINS IN THE AREA. Low Tide in the morning.
Local’s Corner: – The Roca Loca Pro - INVITACIONAL DE OLA GRANDE DE COSTA RICA is happening on 5/30 — Every Weekend don’t miss the Master’s Surf Series – 4PM on Fridays and the Saturday Surf Series on Saturdays – 4PM in front of the Backyard Bar.
Jaco
Chuck at WOW Surf Shop - 5/31 - I know it’s been stormy this week in CR with onshore flow but I’ll bet the surfs been big enough to be challenging! Roca Loca anual event is on right now some chargin going on there for sure! I don’t know how Carlos did down south in Chile but I hope he passed his heat he’s a great representative of CR ! I’m thinking about a mini surf expo for August for shop owners to see all our new product offerings. Pura Vida from the WOW Surf Shop crew!
Manuel Antonio / Dominical
Luis at Manuel Antonio Surf School - 5/31 - In Dominicalito the waves were 4ft and about 7ft in Dominical. It was a bit windy/choppy. Best time to surf is AM.
Greg at Jazzys River House - 5/31 - (filling in for Steve this week) It's been clean in the mornings, but the winds have been switching often due to offshore tropical activity. Waves are chest to head high, but every 10 minutes there is a 2 foot overhead set of 4-5 waves. Dominicalito is knee to waist with some occasional head high sets. It will drop by Monday a couple of feet, and then will get big again Wednesday through the weekend - good for point breaks and road trips.
Southern Zone
Colin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 5/30 - The swell is still holding head high + surf today, but the conditions were messy all day. We had strong onshore flow, though the wind isn’t blowing very hard. Hopefully, things clean up tomorrow, as this seems like a waste of a good swell.
The Caribbean
Solspot - 5/31 - 1+ feet with a dominant ENE short-period swell. Primary Swell: 2.2ft. 6.2 seconds 66 degrees (ENE). Small East-Northeast short-period swell holding.
