AREA REPORTS

Northern Nicoya Peninsula

Playa Grande

Hotel Las Tortugas

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 7/12 - We have been having some great surf in spite of the tricky weather conditions.  Lots of off-shores and glassy conditions.  There is some rain here and there, often accompanied by thunder storms.  The swell is head high now and appears to be picking up slightly.  Hopefully we will see some afternoon off-shores for the weekend as the surf tides move into afternoon and evening slots.  Check out the live camera of the main break out in front of the hotel at Surfline.

Nosara

Surfing NosaraEli at SurfingNosara.com - 7/15 - Cold and rainy morning to start the week, with fun waves, perfect to learn to surf! The size is chest high to shoulder head high and a little offshore wind. Surf, coffee, beers, or all the above? You should without a doubt stop by Olo Alaia. They have the finest range of quality boards, accessories, and brands for all your surfing needs. You can enjoy your cup of coffee or one of their handcrafted beers on the tap while strolling through the store or on the outside terrace.

South Nicoya Peninsula

Mal Pais Surf CamMalpaisurfCam.com - 7/13 - This morning at 7 am waves were head high with constant over head sets. Light offshore wind and mostly sunny clear skies. Pumping waves as the tide was starting to raise. Good conditions and not many persons in the water.

Jaco / Playa Hermosa

Playa Hermosa

Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 7/13 -FUN EARLY BEFORE MEDIUM WINDS MID MORNING  — New SSW filling in with onshore winds 4-6ft+ and building for overhead surf tomorrow – Look to other area standout breaks.

Southern Zone

Manuel Antonio

manuel-antonio-surf-school-125Luis at Manuel Antonio Surf School - 7/12 - In Manuel Antonio waves are 3 feet at most. Conditions are good as rip currents are normal and wind is minimal. Best time to surf is high tide and best place is Playitas.

Dominical

Steve at Jazzys River House - 7/13 - Continued stormy weather has reduced the short windows of decent surf which has been small and inconsistent at best lately.  Some exceptions lately have seen dramatic well overhead barrels at lower tides and a few clean sessions between storms.  Mostly closed out at all tides and few crowds have left the surf community waiting for improved conditions.

Neighboring beaches have been highly inconsistent as well with Dominicalito and Playa Hermosa South offering few fun sessions and Punta Dominical fewer yet.

Pavones

Una Ola Pavones Surf CampColin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 7/15 - The swell dropped off a bit today, with waist to head high waves, but the cleaned up a lot this morning.  There is still some residual wind swell breaking up the primary swell into lots of shorter sections, but it’s still a lot of fun.  Torrential downpours last night created a huge sandbar at the rivermouth, that was producing some short barrel sections on high tide.

The Caribbean

Salsa Brava

Solspot Surf Forecast

Solspot - 7/5 - 6-8 feet with a dominant ENE med-period swell. Primary Swell: 11.4ft. 9 seconds 78 degrees (ENE). East-Northeast med-period swell on the way out.
