Northern Nicoya Peninsula

Playa Grande

Hotel Las Tortugas

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 11-9 - The off-shores are here and the surf was small and excellent all last week.  Now that the swell has picked up to almost double overhead, and moved into the afternoon window, the surf is pretty dicey unless you tuck into the bay toward Tamarindo.  As the swell relaxes and moves into the morning window next week, we should be back to our regular Playa Grande consistency.

Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 11/9 - Small waves in Tamarindo, 1-2ft best within changing tides, sand bars had been moved by the rains and larger tides giving few more spots on the inside breaks for beginners to practice their new skills; winds remain off shore day by day increasing speed, pushing the clouds from the mountains to the coast line. Avellanas has been fun 2ft solid and consistent, glassy conditions makes it perfect for long boarders, line up is not too crowded and there's enough waves for all.

Spice Market and any other local producers are open for business in the Tamarindo Farmers Market!  From 8:30am to 1pm

Surfing NosaraEli at - 11/9 - Today we have beautiful sunny morning, with good and big waves. The size is shoulder high to head high.

Community business of the week - El Local -  If you are in Playa Guiones today visit El Local stylish Farm to Table Restaurant serving Craft Beer & Cocktails. All Meat, Fish, and Produce Sourced Locally.

South Nicoya Peninsula

Mal Pais Surf - 11/9 - This morning at 7 am waves were head high with constant overhead sets. Light off shore wind and mostly cloudy skies. Pumping waves a low tide, fast and hollow barreling sections for the lucky ones. Just a few in the water, might just get better through the morning with the raising tide.

Jaco / Playa Hermosa

Playa Hermosa

Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 11/6 - SSW / S Swell 4-5ft and good conditions, tide is right incoming this morning with high tide mid morning — FUN FUN FUN – Outlook good for the rest of the week =  Overcast day makes for a great day in the water.

Now offering Surf & Fitness Packages: Surfing, stand-up paddle boarding (SUP), yoga, Crossfit , healthy food & plenty of good times included! More information.

Southern Pacific

Steve at Jazzys River House - 11/9 - Small surf, unsettled weather and shifting sandbars add up to poor conditions.  3'-4' walls are prevailing currently, we've lost our peaks for now and daily rainstorms cause choppy and bumpy conditions.  As usual there are windows of decent surf at all tides, mid-tides still the best. Playa Hermosa South and Dominicalito are smaller and share the same problems we see with Dominical.  Punta Dominical had one good session recently but mostly it's be poor.

Hotel Roca Verde continues to host Friday night live music featuring the current version of the 'G-String Cowboys' which includes singer-songwriter Ken Nickell and electric fiddler Nancy Buchan and the show kicks off around 7pm.  Come early for great food, drink and family entertainment at the beachfront venue.

Check for specials and discounts or visit Ruby-Kim in her fine arts studio/gallery and ask about her popular class which she calls 'Palm Part Art'. Learn the ancient crafts of weaving, twining, plaiting, sewing etc. See Steve for relief from body aches and pains as his East/West massage therapy can be most helpful. Steve also offers surf lessons and board sales and rentals as well as private instruction in 'Traditional Taoist Internal Exercises'.

Una Ola Pavones Surf CampColin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 11/9 - The surf was still working this morning with chest high waves making it around the corner.  The surfing conditions were a bit messy with light onshore winds which continued to build all morning, chopping it up by the afternoon.  It was a little fast and sectioning, a bunch, but still quite rippable.

Salsa Brava

Caribbean surf forecastSurf - 11/10 - 5 ft swell from the ENE at 9 seconds producing 3-4 foot waves. Dropping swell for the week with waves only knee to waist high.
