AREA REPORTS
Northern Nicoya Peninsula
Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 12/30 - The solstice tides are moving a lot of water around, and combined with a fickle wind in the afternoon at high tide, Playa Grande is not the classic perfect form we are used to with this well overhead swell. Next week should be better if the swells keep coming and the paddle out will start at daybreak.
Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 12/31 - North winds are the typical conditions this time of the year and some fun waves from the NW swells. Tamarindo was really nice to surf, 2-3ft waves on the best sets, some days windier than others, large crowds with the surf schools on the sand bars, but all point breaks were active and fairly consistent.

Nosara
Eli at SurfingNosara.com - 12/30 - Today we have a cloudy and dark morning, with chopped water, and small waves. The size is waist high to chest high.

South Nicoya Peninsula
MalpaisurfCam.com - 12/24 - This morning at 7 am waves waist to chest high with head high sets. Off shore wind and sunny clear skies. 2-4 feet waves, new swell building up, it was fun all morning. Feliz noche buena y navidad. Swell hitting Santa Teresa and Mal Pais - Primary Swell: 1.9 ft at 14 secs Direction: SW 221'. Secondary Swell: 1.6 ft at 20 secs Direction: SW 217'
Jaco / Playa Hermosa
Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 12/27 - Reinforcing SSW swell- 3-5ft+ and FUN – Sun out strong. Locals Corner: Save The Waves has selected Playa Hermosa as the next World Surfing Reserve.

Esterillos
Esterillos Oeste Surf Report - 12/31 - The past 4-5 days have been kinda sloppy with short period stormy style surf. This morn was no exception, with 2-3' occasionally bigger but stormy with a little rain and a system passing by in the ocean. High tide this morn was about 3:20 and with this evenings high tide being right before 4 pm hoping for some fun surf this eve in the 2-3 ft (waist to shoulder) range hoping for swell to straighten out a bit and offer up some fun waves for the last session of 2020. For the next few days looks like we are in for some smaller, longer period swell and with high tide in morning and evening we should get some fun surf on the reef and beaches in town, depending on local weather.
Southern Pacific
Quepos/Manuel Antonio
Luis at Manuel Antonio Surf School - 12/29 - Greetings from Manuel Antonio Surf school, and we do agree with you that this year has been chaotic for everyone, but we are grateful that we are still working and we hope 2021 is going to be a better year. This is the report for this week: the waves in Manuel Antonio have been small these days. Wave height is around 1 to 2 feet but the conditions got nicer with glassy waters and lower tides perfect for beginners and intermediate surfers. The best spot to surf this weekend in Manuel Antonio is Playitas beach.
Steve at Jazzys River House - 12/30 - Summer surf has settled in with a few exceptions. The past week has seen winter style waves on occasion and a return of winter type storms. On good days recently we have had 3'-5' waves with consistent hollow low tide sessions and clean fun conditions at higher tides. The better days have been quite crowded and offshore winds have combined with friendly swell directions to generate excellent conditions overall. Playa Hermosa South and Dominicalito have as usual been similar but smaller and mellower. It's been too small to activate the Point.
Caribbean
Surf Forecast.com - 12/31 - Major swell coming this weekend. 10 feet at 10 seconds from the ENE push in double overhead sets by Sunday and stay big Monday. Then it drops slowly through the week, back to chest high by Friday.
