AREA REPORTS

Northern Nicoya Peninsula

Playa Grande

Hotel Las Tortugas

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 2/9 - This week finished with beautiful just overhead waves with brisk off-shores, warm water, and fast barrels. The tides will be moving into the early morning window this week and should bring good surf conditions.

Tamarindo

Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 2/10 - Fun waves last weekend, the last couple days had been strong NE winds all day, pushing white caps from the shore into deep ocean, that means no surf time, but yog time or else.

The forecast looks like fun, Tamarindo's rivermouth should be active within a day or two and after 2 days of sand being blasted into the water, the sand bars shall be a fun break for the upcoming double session week!

Last night went to Marbella, not affected by the wind, offered solid 5-6ft steep and hollow barrels for every single person in the line up, super fun session, all sand bars and point breaks were active and pumping. Not too crowded, the sets could have 2 more waves to suit the line up, but it was consistent enough to keep us busy.

Southern Pacific

Quepos/Manuel Antonio

Manuel Antonio Surf SchoolLuis at Manuel Antonio Surf School - 1/31 - The best time to surf right now is very early in the morning or late afternoon. Conditions in the AM were fairly clean with small, shoulder high waves but with good form. As the rain moved in this AM and tide moved out conditions were choppy. Look to surf first thing in the morning.

Dominical

Steve at Jazzys River House - 2/11 - Size is the prize this week as the waves have bumped up to well overhead on bigger sets and even lower tide sessions have seen some 5' to 6' hard dumping barrels.  Largely closed out but some decent waves rolled through occasionally with clean lines and conditions prevailing due to clearing weather patterns and strong offshore winds.  Playa Hermosa South and Dominicalito have followed suit with lots of fun action at all tides and even the Point has produced some nice waves  at all tides.

Hotel Roca Verde leads the live music scene with the G-String Cowboys each Friday night.  Music starts around 7pm so come early for dinner and stay for the dancing and foot tapping in the beachside, family friendly atmosphere.

Check www.jazzysriverhouse.com for specials and discounts or come by and visit artist Ruby-Kim in her home studio/gallery and ask about her popular class - learn the ancient arts of weaving, twining, plaiting and sewing.  See Steve if you need help with body aches and pains and stiffness as his East/West massage therapy can be most rewarding.  Steve also offers surf lessons and board rentals and sales as well as private instruction in 'Traditional Taoist Internal Exercises'.

Pavones

Una Ola Pavones Surf CampColin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 2/15 - The surf was a bit smaller and less consistent than yesterday, but still really fun on the higher tide.  The waves were mostly waist to chest high around the corner, with some bigger sets up top.  The wind was clean and glassy early, but as the tide began dropping out, a combination of light onshore flow, and a bunch of current ripping through the lineup, made the waves weird and warbled.

Caribbean

Cahuita

caribbean-experience-surf-schoolCahuita Experience - 2/10 - Over head waves all over the Caribbean, good throughout the morning then slight onshore winds but still totally ripable, glasses off aroumd 3-4. Salsa brava is safe bet this weekend.
