Overview:

Caribbean - Consistent ENE swell - 4 feet at 9 seconds slowly building to 6 feet at 10 seconds by late Wednesday and staying that size or a little bigger through the weekend. This translates to chest to head high surf growing to 1 foot overhead by Friday.

Pacific -  A SSW swell (2.5 feet at 12 seconds) builds Monday and Tuesday to provide head high surf, and then a new SSW (3.5 feet at 15 seconds) arrives Wednesday to push in some 1 foot overhead sets through Thursday. Then it drops a foot a day back to waist to chest high by Sunday. More SSW swell is expected by next Tuesday for more overhead surf but after that it's small until the 1st of March.

AREA REPORTS

Northern Nicoya Peninsula

Playa Grande

Hotel Las Tortugas

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 2/9 - The morning surf tides will begin this weekend and with a little swell should provide some good surf conditions.  The wind has been perfect and the water warm.   Look for bonus sessions in the afternoon and hope the surf resembles last weeks sundown sessions.  The spit was blowing surfers out of the deep, smooth, just overhead tubes.

Tamarindo

Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 2/9 - Strong winds came along with February, typical at this time of the year, had great waves in January and look forward to that moving on the southern hemisphere, meanwhile we are cleaning boards, and taking beginners to the sandbars in Tamarindo, where the waves are 1 ft on a semi crowded line up with other surf schools. Paddle boarding in the mornings or mountain biking in the woods are the options while better waves show up.

Local ONG's remain assisting as many as 10.000 people in Guanacaste, your donation if you can will be greatly appreciated. Below are some of the ONG's links you can contact or gofundme.com to donate. for extended lodging expenses due to COVID-19 related illness.

Stay healthy everyone and keep hope for good waves and to resume travel.

Nosara

Surfing NosaraEli at SurfingNosara.com - 2/13 - Today we have a little bigger waves than yesterday with a nice sunny morning. The size is waist high to Shoulder High.

Check out www.surfingnosara.com for additional photos, further information about activities and upcoming events here in Playa Guiones. Stop by Surfing Nosara office and ask for Brayan or Eli, if you would like to book a private photo session or by any of our pictures.

South Nicoya Peninsula

Mal Pais Surf CamMalpaisurfCam.com - 2/8 - This morning at 7 am waves were knee to waist high, occasionally a chest high set. Light off shore wind and sunny clear skies. 1-2 feet waves, dead low, looked clean long wait but fun ones on the set, not many people surfing. Swell hitting Santa Teresa and Mal Pais - Primary Swell: 1 ft at 12 secs Direction: SW 218'. Secondary Swell: 1.3 ft at 9 secs Direction: S 180'.

Jaco / Playa Hermosa

Playa Hermosa

Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 2/13 - NEW SW filling in and picking up – Outlook good the next few days.  3-5ft+ and improving conditions.

Esterillos

esterillos-surf-reportEsterillos Oeste Surf Report - 2/10 - We had a string of small but perfect and fun days but this week is even smaller and today about 1 ft ankle to knee high barely longboardable . Looks like the rest of the week is gonna be about the same maybe a few inches bigger on a couple days . With low tides in the morn doesn’t offer much promise but there are a couple SMALL longboard waves coming in along the reef. Have a great week and looking like something might jump up Sunday and Monday.

Southern Pacific

Quepos/Manuel Antonio

Manuel Antonio Surf SchoolLuis at Manuel Antonio Surf School - 2/9 - This is the report for this week: this week the ocean has been pretty flat these days, wave height is around 1 to  2 feet condition got nicer with glassy waters and lower tides perfect for beginners and intermedium surfers,  the best spot to surf this weekend in Manuel Antonio is Playitas beach.

Dominical

Steve at Jazzys River House - 2/10 - Small waves, big crowds.  High Season mellow surf - giant set waves maybe waist high.  Little bitty tubes at lower tides but neat, clean, orderly peaks and short walls at most tides depending on the wind as always.  Dead low tide this morning had 3' barrels breaking in 3' of water. Cute but kinda' weird.  Exceptionally good body surfing.  Weak currents lately.

Hermosa South about the same as Dominical and extra small for Dominicalito.  The point is just a pond.
Visit artist Ruby-Kim in her home studio/gallery for fine art and ask about her popular class - learn the ancient arts of weaving, twining, plaiting and sewing using only discarded local plant parts.  For stiff and sore muscles and body aches and pains see Steve - his East/West massage therapy can be most helpful.  Steve also offers surf lessons and board sales and rentals.  He also teaches Taoist Yoga and guitar.  All at Jazzy's RiverHouse

Caribbean

Salsa Brava

Caribbean surf forecastSurf Forecast.com - 2/14 - Check to head high with a few overhead sets. ENE swell - 4 feet at 9 seconds. This will build to 6 feet at 10 seconds Wednesday and then stay around that size through the weekend.
