10/28 -The trades tried to blow off-shore today, with the perfect high tides and a nice little swell running, but barely broke through the tropical wave that is hitting the rest of Costa Rica.

As soon as the tropical waves let the trades through the conditions will improve.  There are rideable head high waves in the early morning and light rain off and on all day log.  The ocean surface is still pretty disorganised.

Tamarindo

10/27 - The low pressure system is around the North Pacific coast and did bring good waves to Tamarindo and along the coast; partially clean sky in the mornings, with rain in the afternoon; not so crowded line up on the sand bars, and we are having fun riding some 2-3ft waves among friends and few tourists.

Avellanas is more exposed to the swell direction, 3ft solid and consistent sets, glassy and long rides with the changing tides, its fairly crowded, I guess we all have a lot more time to enjoy our playground.
Its all about Halloween parties in Tamarindo, just walk around town on your most creative custom and try your luck on every bar! “Basics of Surf” is an entry level program with a 1 to 1 instructor/student ratio, whether 4 or 7 days; 2 hour progressive lessons and one surf trip.

10/28 - Rainy or overcast mornings make dawn patrols less desirable as the winds turn onshore early.  Afternoon session was better with waist to head high surf and a rising tide.

As the high tides move to the morning, the incoming tide should be the best time to surf. However, the swell is not that big, so waves will be mostly waist to chest high.
