Overview
Caribbean - Short period ENE swell continues this week with the next bump coming Saturday, waves will be overhead through Tuesday with a good chance that it stays big through next week, too.
Pacific - Combo SSW swell (2.1 feet at 15 seconds) arriving Friday, with a background WNW swell (1 ft at 16 seconds). This brings head high to overhead surf for the weekend, with a brief drop-off Monday. Then a BIG WNW swell arrives late Tuesday hitting the Guanacaste coast with surf 1-2 feet overhead for the following few days.

AREA REPORTS
Northern Nicoya Peninsula
Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 1/13 - The surf is in the shoulder to head high range with great shape and off-shores all day on most days. The crowds come and go and there are good peaks working up and down the beach with long makable barrels. The tide is in the morning this week, and barely moving, so the morning window is 5 or 6 hours long and very organised. These are some of the best surf conditions of the year.
Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 1/14 - It's been small but fun waves in Tamarindo, 1-2ft on the best sets, glassy and fast rides within the change of tides. Inside line up ery busy as usual most of the surf schools hang in the main sand bar, but the point breaks are lit in the mid tides and not too much crowd there. Sustained off shore winds along the day. Langosta has been more consistent with up to 2-3ft in the mid tides, strong winds as well from North hold the face of the wave making it very long and fun to play on. Not too crowded spot and always a fun place to spend the afternoon.
Nosara
Andres at SurfingNosara.com - 1/14 - A beautiful morning to start the week with good waves and good vibes. Very fun conditions today guys, the waves are more big and yesterday, some head high to couple feet overhead set, and look super fun. We had light offshore wind and the morning was beautiful.
South Nicoya Peninsula
MalpaisurfCam.com - 1/14 - This morning at 7 am waves were chest to head high with some over head ones on the sets. Offshore wind and sunny clear skies. Pumping waves at high tide, lots of fast barrels and nice open waves. Good waves all morning.
Manuel Antonio / Dominical
Steve Fergus at Jazzys River House - 1/14 - More summer surf although the size bumped up a little today but the morning session was less productive than the past few days because the swell direction shifted enough to increase the number of closed out waves. The current was unusually strong this morning so overall conditions were not as good as they've been. The stiff, cold, early morning offshore breeze was both a help and a hinder until the sun came up and slowly warmed everything nicely. Playa Hermosa and Playa Dominicalito were both affected by the swell direction shift and were more closed out than they have been.
Southern Zone
Colin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 1/13 - Ankle to waist high sets with glassy conditions this morning.
The Caribbean
Solspot - 1/14 - 5-6 feet with a dominant ENE med-period swell. Primary Swell: 9.1ft. 8 seconds 71 degrees (ENE). East-Northeast short-period swell steady.
