National Forecast

2/13 to 2/19 WED THUR FRI SAT SUN MON TUES
Caribbean 5-6 ft. 4-5 ft. 4-5 ft. 4-6 ft. 5-6 ft. 7-9 ft. 7-9 ft.
North Pacific 2-3 ft. 2-3 ft. 2-3 ft. 3-4 ft. 2-3 ft. 2-3 ft. 2-3 ft.
South Pacific 2-4 ft. 2-3 ft. 2-3 ft. 3-5 ft. 3-4 ft. 2-4 ft. 2-4 ft.

Overview
Caribbean - Continued run of ENE swell keeps the surf in the chest to head high range through to the weekend. Then a stronger ENE (9 second period) pushes in surf 1-2 feet overhead by Monday lasting another 48 hours.

Pacific - Combo SSW and SW swells make for fun chest to head high surf for the week. It gets a bump up to overhead on some sets from a new SSW arriving Friday afternoon (2 feet at 16 seconds). More small combo waves for next week, too.

AREA REPORTS

Northern Nicoya Peninsula

Playa Grande

Hotel Las Tortugas

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 2/11 - The just overhead surf in Playa Grande has been spectacular this week end and should keep happening into the week with the high tides in the mornings and evenings and long sessions.  The water should warm up a little over the next few days as the off-shores die down some.  Bring a vest just in case. There have been lots of unridden waves.

Tamarindo

Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 2/11 - North winds are howling into the ocean cooling down the water temperature, but not able to stop the swell combined from SSW and WNW, all locals wearing wetsuit and dropping 2ft waves in the river mouth although sessions are not too loong due our lack of body isolation. Small tides makes it perfect for everyone to paddle out, the crowd is all over the lineup on the sand bars. El Sapo at Langosta is lit within the mid low tides, 3ft not very consistent sets with just a handful of surfers.

Seafari Costa Rica takes you to isolated beaches and plunge in with the snorkel gear on; meeting the juvenile tropical fish, underwater easy and slow progressive swim that lead us from standing  depth to a maximum depth of 12 feet, average visibility of 10-15 feet. Safety briefing previous to access in the water, around 2 hours in the water, 1 hour round trip from Tamarindo. 10% savings by booking thru CR Surf Travel.

Saturday - Joe and Luiz bring their very special music to WAVE - Excellent Italian Food! With 20% discount for locals. 6:30-9:30pm

Nosara

Surfing NosaraChico at SurfingNosara.com - 2/10 - A beautiful morning to start the week with fun waves, good condition today, big fast long lines and offshore wind. The waves are head high to couple feet overhead on the larger sets. Hard offshore winds and a beautiful morning.

South Nicoya Peninsula

Mal Pais Surf CamMalpaisurfCam.com - 2/10 - This morning at 7 am waves were waist to chest high occasionally a bigger one on the sets. Off shore wind and sunny clear skies. Fast and kind of closing out, still some nice open ones on the sets. Tide was dropping, and not many people were surfing.

Jaco / Playa Hermosa

Playa Hermosa

Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 2/11 - Fun SW in Hermosa – 3-4ft + and clean early – wind on it by mid morning – high tide in the morning  Outlook the same next few days  – Sun is out strong in Playa Hermosa.

Local’s Corner: – Every Weekend don’t miss the Master’s Surf Series – 4PM on Fridays and the Saturday Surf Series on Saturdays – 4PM in front of the Backyard Bar.

Mark your calendars for the Los Suenos Signature Triple Crown Fishing Tournament  - Dates: Leg Two Feb 27- March 2; Leg Three - March 27-30.

The Bamboo Bass Festival 2019 is being held this year at the park at Ocean Ranch Feb 22-24th.  Among the artists who will perform in Costa Rica this February include Mr. Carmack, Craze, AC Slater, Stylust, Flava D, Truth, Stööki Sound and Zeke Beats.

Manuel Antonio / Dominical

Dominical

Steve at Jazzys River House - 2/13 - A very mellow morning today - 2' to 4' relatively soft and slow waves (for Dominical) with nice straight lines and occasional peaks.  Far less closed out than yesterday morning with corresponding larger crowds in the water today.  Gentle, warm offshore breeze in contrast to recent cold early morning offshore conditions.  Mostly clear, bright, sunny blue sky overhead.  Excellent conditions for beginners and intermediate surfers.

Playa Hermosa South clean and fun and smaller than Dominical as usual.  Dominicaltio maybe too mellow except for determined longboarders. Skip the Point.
Hotel Roca Verde is offering live music each Friday night currently with one version or another of the G-String Cowboys with Nancy Buchan, the electric electric fiddler all star.  Check www.jazzysriverhouse.com for discounts and specials or come by and visit artist Ruby Kim in her studio/gallery.  Ask about her popular class which she calls 'Plant Part Art'.  Learn the ancient crafts of weaving, plaiting, twining, sewing etc...  Check with Steve if in need of relief from body aches and pains as his East/West Massage Therapy can be helpful. See Steve also for surf lessons, board sales and rentals and private instruction in Traditional Taoist Internal Exercises.

Southern Zone

Pavones

Una Ola Pavones Surf CampColin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 2/11 - The surf picked up slightly with waist high waves on the sets.  Light glassy wind conditions early, turning steady onshore by about 10:00 am.

The Caribbean

Salsa Brava

Solspot Surf Forecast
