Pacific - Smaller surf in the waist to head high range for the weekend. Then Monday starts some SSW combo swell at 3 ft and 14 seconds, pushing in foot overhead sets through Wednesday morning when it drops through the next weekend. Look for a larger 3.6 ft at 16 second SSW swell the following Sunday.

At a recent Dominical Beach cleanup, we were asked to weigh and count the items we collected as a team. Volunteers came from University N.A. in Coto near the Panama border. Our group of 5 went to a quiet section of the beach, but still collected over 460 bottle tops, 9 toothbrushes, 4 syringes, plus a lot of smaller plastic pieces. When we weighed just our group's trash, it was over 30 kilograms. See our photos from the event on our Facebook page.

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 8/13 - We just completed a week of morning high tides with some blue sky, head high plus surf. The surf tides have moved into the afternoon slot now and the wind conditions are unpredictable. There are sunny days and some rain. The crowds are mostly light with the surf schools hanging down at casitas closer to Tamarindo. Tuesday had good variable wind conditions up until about 2 PM when it finally blew out.
Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 8/27 - Small conditions for Tamarindo, 1-2ft waves within incoming large tides, typical morning off shore winds and light on shore during the afternoon; perfect for beginners to practice their new skills. Southern Zone
Steve at Jazzys River House - 8/27 -
Coming off a recent moderate swell we are back to less than head high waves and inconsistent conditions. Near daily storms have put limits on the surf scene, mornings being the exception with regular patches of blue sky and offshore winds. This mornings rising tide was somewhat peaky with the occasional long clean rides in the 4' range. Mostly long walls, dumping fairly hard with a few scattered small barrels. Only a handful out doing a lot of paddling and waiting.
The point had some good moments recently thanks to the swell which came and went and Dominicalito got a jolt as well. Hermosa has enjoyed some better than average surf lately giving a rosy hue to the past weeks surf scene.
Hotel Roca Verde is filling the void left by the disappearing G-String Cowboys, the house band these days who are on sabbatical leave, giving the stage to other local musicians as they become available. The food is excellent as always and the beach front family scene is most welcoming. Music starts around seven.
Colin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 8/27 - The surf was small and clean this morning. The corner looked really fun for longboarding at high tide, but the top of the point still had some fun chest high waves still coming through. The wind was calm and glassy until the afternoon started to blow onshore.
The Caribbean
Solspot - 8/29 - 2-3 feet with a dominant ENE short-period swell.. Primary Swell: 4.4ft. 6.9 seconds 63 degrees (ENE). Secondary Swell: 0.5ft. 9.8 seconds 81 degrees (E).
