Overview
Caribbean - Conditions are excellent for snorkeling and stand up paddling this week, but dismal for wave riding. It will be rare to even see a knee high wave from Wednesday through the weekend.
Pacific - The current South swell is short period, 4 ft at 8 seconds, meaning more chop and chest to head high surf. A West short period swell arrives Tuesday, 4.3 ft. at 8 seconds, which keeps it that size through Thursday, but Friday drops off. Then a third SSW short period swell shows up Sunday bringing some more head high surf. Underlying all these is a small 1.4 ft at 14 seconds South pulse.

AREA REPORTS
Northern Nicoya Peninsula
Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 9/15 - The surfing tides are in the afternoon now and usually somewhat blown out. There have been some decent sessions and a handful of hardcores are finding some smooth shoulders in the head high consistent swell. There hasn’t been much rain yet which would help to glass it off. The daybreak sessions start in the middle of the week and should be more promising.
Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 9/14 - Perfect conditions for beginners and long boarders, glassy, consistent 1-2ft waves in Tamarindo, usual weather conditions for mid september, overcast sky and sporadic rains every other day; clean line up, since the tourist season is very slow at this time of year.
Nosara
Eli at SurfingNosara.com - 9/15 - Today we have a beautiful cloudy morning with small waves. Tide chart. The size is waist hight to chest high. The low tide is at 9:36AM and the High tide is at 3:47PM. Stop by Surfing Nosara office and ask for Brayan, Wentyn, or Eli, if you would like to book a private photo session or by any of our pictures. Pura Vida!
South Nicoya Peninsula
Santa Teresa
Eric at Kina Surf Shop - 9/15 - Waves are chest to head high small groundswell/windswell mix. Poor conditions, looks like increasing onshore wind with rain this afternoon. Best spot - any beachie if you want to get wet
MalpaisurfCam.com - 9/12 - This morning at 7 am waves were waist to chest high with some head high sets. Light offshore wind and mostly overcast skies. Dead low tide session, just a few in the water, clean conditions, constant sets showing, some closeouts but also some nice barreling ones on the sets.
Jaco / Playa Hermosa
Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 9/14 - SW swell holding in 4-6ft – Low tide in morning – FUN as tides come up – Overcast makes for a great day in the water in Playa Hermosa for Costa Rican Independence Day Weekend.

Southern Zone
Steve at Jazzys River House - 9/15 - Rowdy storms are the latest feature of the landscape here. Small surf plagued by wind and rain means good luck finding an open window of decent waves and clean conditions. 3' - 5' has been typical with frequent peaks, making for fun sessions during brief periods of favorable wind directions and clearing skies. Punta Dominical has been very inconsistent but Playa Hermosa and Dominicalito have had their moments between storms when the waves cleaned up and fun small sessions were offered by King Neptune.
Colin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 9/14 - The surf was flat with ankle high mud slappers this morning. Nothing but junk today! It’s another beautiful rainy season day here in Pavones, Costa Rica. It was stormy with light rain this morning, lasting most of the day, with the occasional break in rain. The winds were steady onshore out of the southwest most of the day, though.
The Caribbean
Solspot - 9/15 - 2-3 feet with a dominant ENE short-period swell. Primary Swell: 5.7ft. 7.7 seconds 66 degrees (ENE). Small East-Northeast short-period swell steady.
