10/2 to 10/8 | WED | THU | FRI | SAT | SUN | MON | TUE |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Caribbean | 1 ft. | 1 ft. | 1 ft. | 1 ft. | 1 ft. | 1 ft. | 1 ft. |

South Pacific | 3-5 ft. | 2-4 ft. | 3-5 ft. | 4-6 ft. | 6-8 ft. | 4-6 ft. | 4-6 ft. |
Overview:
Caribbean - Another week of tiny surf with no swells over 2 feet at 7 seconds, which means basically flat.
Pacific - A SSW swell (4 ft at 15 seconds) from 198 degrees sticks around for the rest of the week, pushing in overhead surf with a few bigger sets. It drops off a foot Saturday, but Sunday is reinforced with more SSW swell and some SW swell mixed in (224 degrees) sending surf 1-2 feet overhead through Monday. By Wednesday it tapers off back to head high, but stays consistent.

AREA REPORTS
Northern Nicoya Peninsula
Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 9/30 - There are a handful of surfers out every day in the well overhead, sloppy surf. Some of the shoulders are smooth and occassionally barreling. It is raining almost every day but there are also patches of sun, especially in the morning. Don’t count on the Liberia weather reports since Tamarindo and Playa Grande have their own unique weather patterns. The surfing tides have moved into the morning and you can take your chances. Look for strong off-shores to pull shape out of the chaotic ocean conditions.
Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 9/30 - A south swell is on the close future, Tamarindo already promise 2ft waves within mid tides along the morning, water remain murky after several days of rain up in the mountains, be safe and rinse your ears off with hot water. Almost no one out there the last days, winds are shifty as it is usual this time of year. Avellanas river mouth seems to be a good spot to welcome the swell and ride some 3+ft waves the next days.
Check out Guanacaste Oktoberfest tomorrow at Volcano Brewing Company. There will be beers, brats and it's super kid friendly with space for them to run around after a few days stuck indoors. There will be polka music. Maybe a little Hasselhoff.
Nosara
Eli at SurfingNosara.com - 10/1 - A little dark and cloudy morning, good and big waves with chopped water. The size is shoulder high to head high.
Treat yourself with a visit to the Native Gallery. This intimate and inviting store is located right beside Robin's. It is filled with all kinds of colorful jewels that are made with love!
South Nicoya Peninsula
MalpaisurfCam.com - 9/28 - This morning at 8 am waves were chest to head high, with occasionally an over head set. Light onshore wind and partially clear skies. Dead low session, kind of messy but with some nice and hollow constant peaks. Just a few in the water, was getting better as the tide started to fill in.
Jaco / Playa Hermosa
Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 9/28 - Building SW Swell – 4-6ft+ with fair conditions – offshore early. – Low tide this morning. Overcast here in Playa Hermosa makes for a great day in the water.

Every Weekend don’t miss the Master’s Surf Series – 4PM on Fridays and the Saturday Surf Series on Saturdays – 4PM in front of the Backyard Bar. Mark your calendars for Oct 12 y 13 - Gran Final Pro at the Backyard
Steve at Jazzys River House - 9/30 - Still peaky after all these years to misquote Paul Simon and today was no exception; 4'-5' well formed peaks, some hollow, most not, most open in both directions - and often staying open and not closing out. Mild offshore, inside fairly clean, small scattered crowd. Stiff currents at lower tides as usual. A cool, cloudy day with exceptional surf. Playa Hermosa and Dominicalito both had some windows of fun waves and good conditions depending on the fast moving weather fronts.
Hotel Roca Verde is the live music spot each Friday night thanks to Ken Nickel and Nancy Buchan as the current version of the 'G-String Cowboys'. Lots of lively original music, great food and a family atmosphere gives wide appeal to the dinner crowd. Music starts at 6:30.
Colin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 10/1 - It was firing at low tide today, and only a handful of surfers in the line up. It rained most of the day, but then wind was offshore, and the stets were barreling. It turned out to be another great day of surf from this latest swell. I love October rainy days in Pavones!
