Overview:
Caribbean - Fading ENE swell (4.5 ft at 9 seconds) which means chest high waves through Wednesday. Then it drops to knee to waist for the rest of the week and through the weekend.
Pacific - Dropping Southwest swell, from a foot overhead down to chest to head by Wednesday. A new swell from the SSW (3 ft. at 16 seconds) pushes it back up to overhead, and then Saturday a SW (2.5 ft at 18 seconds) will bump it to 2 feet overhead through next weekend.
REMINDER - The beaches of Costa Rica will be open for surfing on May 18th, for Mondays - Fridays, only from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. Some beaches that are also national parks will remain closed. The rules will be revised on May 31st.

Costa Rica announces beaches will be open starting on May 18th. You can only surf from 5 to 8 a.m. from Monday to Friday. Also, some beaches that are national parks are not yet open (Playa Pelada, Ostional, Guiones up north and Playa Ballena down south). A new notice will be created on May 31st to update status.

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 5/10 - If all goes well, on Monday, Playa Grande will allow exercising and surfing from 7 till 9 AM with certain distancing restrictions. Be careful, if you break the rules, you could end up with a huge fine. Please help the police and rangers do their job and we will move forward with the opening up of the recreational areas. A lot of people have successfully worked for this logical approach which to some government and medical officials appear risky since we don’t have confirmation of the virus in this part of the province. Check the news for the exact day.

Surf Forecast.com - 5/11 - Southwest swell (4 ft at 15 seconds) with surf 1-2 feet overhead. Waves drop a foot on Tuesday and another foot Wednesday, but new swells from the SSW and SW bring more overhead surf for the weekend.
