Overview:
Caribbean - A powerful ENE swell keeps the waves overhead to double overhead through Wednesday morning (10.5 feet at 12 seconds). It drops down to head high to a foot overhead Thursday, but more ENE swell follows up leading into next weekend.
Pacific - New SSW arrives late Sunday starting at 1.7 feet at 18 seconds and maxing at 3.5 feet at 14 seconds by late Tuesday. This means overhead sets at the better beach breaks. The swell turns more southerly and drops back to waist to chest high by next weekend.

AREA REPORTS
Northern Nicoya Peninsula
Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 1/9 - The moderate off-shores are blowing all day now, and as the surf jumps up and down from shoulder to head high, the waves have been small but super fun. The vacation crowd is spread out and everybody is getting barrel rides during the long morning weak tide windows. The stronger tides are now moving into the afternoon and the surf should be good in the morning again by next week.
Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 1/11 - Small yet gassy conditions in Tamarindo, 1-2ft waves on the best sets, a SW swell stays around for a day or two and we look to a storm in the northern Hemi to send some good waves thru the mid January. Winds are typical for the season, so watch out for boards or other heavy objects flying around the beach or in the water. Busy sand bars with the local schools, point breaks and river mouth farly active within the mid tides.
Nosara
Eli at SurfingNosara.com - 1/11 -Nice sunny morning with a little offshore wind and small and fun waves. The size is waist high to chest high.
Surfing Nosara thanks the people who cleaned our beach this morning in this third national beach cleanup.
South Nicoya Peninsula
Santa Teresa
Eric at Kina Surf Shop - 1/9 - Very small leftover NW swell. This past weeks NW groundswell has finally faded. Waist to chest high peaks remain with clean conditions early.
Jaco / Playa Hermosa
Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 1/11 - SMALL SSW SWELL – 2ft Sun out strong in Playa Hermosa – New swell set to fill in late tomorrow.

Southern Pacific
Steve at Jazzys River House - 1/10 - Record breaking small surf yesterday. South end of Dominical at low tide measured one foot for largest set waves. Otherwise great conditions. One foot glassy, spitting barrels. Mildly peaky with a crisp offshore. No one out but the lineup was full of dolphins for nearly half an hour. Today the size bumped up and featured some two foot barrels at lower tides. Still great conditions. Late season rain squalls have been consistent. Playa Hermosa and Dominicalito are pushing their limits for small size since they are both consistently smaller than Dominical. The point is a pond.
Colin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 1/11 - The surf was flat again today with double-under ankle high waves, and low tides all morning. It was glassy early, turning light but steady onshore winds by noon. Hopefully, the surf picks up again soon. It appears we might be getting a small pulse of south swell in the next day or so. Either way, it’s got to be better than what’s out front now.
Caribbean
Surf Forecast.com - 1/11 - A major ENE swell - 11 feet at 12 seconds is sending well overhead surf to Salsa Brava and the beach breaks. Expect this run to continue through Wednesday morning and then only to drop a couple of feet but stay overhead.
