AREA REPORTS

Northern Nicoya Peninsula

Playa Grande

Hotel Las Tortugas

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 1/20 - Perfect warm, clear, glassy conditions, but small, small, small.  Really fun shoulder high sets.

Tamarindo

Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica - 1/22 - Fun waves in Tamarindo, long 2ft rides and random 3ft every other hour, busy as usual as this time of the year, although the river mouth sand bar and casitas where not so crowded and sure there were no foamies as those waves within the mid tides are fast and hollow. Strong gusts of winds during the first half of the day, now with the moon past the last quarter satage, we may have changes on the atmosphere pressure and let the south wind get by the norther pacific during the afternoons.

Langosta, has work great, this is another intermediate to advanced level of surfing, as we take off on top of shallow volcanic reef, also the winds are shoot thru the marsh into the ocean, taking boards out of your feet on the air. 3ft waves, mid tides was the best, faily crowded, mostly expats/residents, nice water temps!

The party continues in Tamarindo, as we ticos say, its about December 51st, BPM just finished on Sunday and prior to it we had Ocaso festival and prior to that all the usual Holidays concerts and parties. We all  want to have fun, just do not forget manners and that you are sharing someone's else social area and public area;  let's keep it clean and safe for all of us. To slow down that beat, check out  l Chiringuito Tamarindo at 5pm Sunset Sessions.

Also would like to put the word out about a Lost Dog in Junquillal, named FLIPP, its a boy with orange collar,  Cristina is looking for him, contact info 7050-7298    https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2801765166533853&set=a.227514383958957&type=3&theater&ifg=1

Nosara

Surfing NosaraEli at SurfingNosara.com - 1/22 - Windy and cloudy morning with good and big waves. The size is shoulder high to head high.

Community Pick - Robins - If you are in Playa Guiones today visit Robins cafe and Ice Cream selected as 'Our Pick' by Lonely Planet. Known for fresh, top quality produce, from-scratch, great tasting food.

South Nicoya Peninsula

Mal Pais Surf CamMalpaisurfCam.com - 1/22 - This morning at 7 am waves were waist to chest high with constant head high sets. Off shore wind and partially clear skies. Really fun surf as the tide was just starting to raise. Constant sets showing with fast and hollow peaks, not many people surfing. Good waves all morning.

Jaco / Playa Hermosa

Playa Hermosa

Christina at Surf Inn Hermosa - 1/21 - FUN FUN FUN – SUNNY SKIES AND GREAT DAYS AT THE BEACH IN HERMOSA  SW SWELL – WAIST HIGH 3ft+ AND FUN.

Now offering Surf & Fitness Packages: Surfing, stand-up paddle boarding (SUP), yoga, Crossfit , healthy food & plenty of good times included! More information.

Local’s Corner: Every Weekend don’t miss the Master’s Surf Series – 4PM on Fridays and the 4PM Saturday Surf Series  – Mark your calendars for 2020 Signature Triple Crown Fishing in Los Suenos : LEG I Jan 15-16; LEG II Feb 26-29; LEG III March 25-28 The Turtle Tour is Back in Playa Hermosa — Based out of Bowie’s Restaurant - call 8988-3030 or 8858-5232.

Southern Pacific

Dominical

Steve at Jazzys River House - 1/22 - nconsistent is the current byword.  Strange off-season storms and unsettled weather are spoiling some nice conditions but when it's good it's excellent.  Low tide morning session small 4'-5' with lots of peaks and barrels and clean conditions thanks to partial clearing of the sky and a steady offshore breeze.  Very few out.  Higher tide sessions - bigger waves and bigger crowds.  Playa Hermosa South and Dominicalito similar and smaller as usual.  No Point action.

Hotel Roca Verde is live music capitol each Friday night hosting the G-String Cowboys with Nancy Buchan and her electrifying electric fiddle!  Come early for dinner, stay late for dancing...great food, great beachfront atmosphere!

Check www.jazzysriverhouse.com for specials and discounts or come by and visit artist Ruby-Kim in her home studio/gallery and ask about her popular class - learn the ancient arts of weaving, twining, plaiting and sewing.  See Steve if you need help with body aches and pains and stiffness as his East/West massage therapy can be most rewarding.  Steve also offers surf lessons and board rentals and sales as well as private instruction in 'Traditional Taoist Internal Exercises'.

Pavones

Una Ola Pavones Surf CampColin at Una Ola Surf Camp - 1/21 - The surf was flat again today.  Weak and gutless knee high surf at the top of the point.  Nothing really making it around the corner today, though there was a small pulse that showed up then disappeared, going flat again.  The winds were light onshore most of the morning, but glassed off later in the day.

Caribbean

Salsa Brava

Caribbean surf forecastSurf Forecast.com - 1/22 - Quickly fading NNW swell, dropping from waist high down to flat. It stays that way through next Tuesday.
