Overview:
Caribbean - Chest high surf for the rest of the week with a slight drop Saturday. Then Sunday some more ENE swell arrives pushing back up to head high with a few overhead sets on the reefs. The swell drops back to waist to chest high Tuesday and changes to a more Northerly direction. A solid ENE swell (9 feet at 8 seconds) arrives next Thursday and maxes that weekend so it is time for a 'strategic strike' for advanced surfers.
Pacific - Finally some waves! Chest to head high at most beach breaks through the weekend with the drop coming Tuesday, leaving Thursday and all the way through the next weekend at knee to waist with maybe a chest high set. Next minor SSW comes in the 15th.

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas - 12/29 - The surf conditions are excellent with the typical small (shoulder to head high), perfect waves. The high tide surfing tides are now in the morning and afternoon and the crowds are spreading out a bit during the Christmas vacations.

Chuck at Wow Surf Shop in Jaco - 12/29 - Hey yep it’s closing another year here! Been a bit stormy this 2019 , lots of interesting exciting things have gone on for sure. Surf today is small at 2-4 ft faces Max but there a bump on the horizon so maybe Bejuco and playa Palma could be the call? Less crowds too! Business is good I have some great deals on 2019 boards right now. We are going on a new operating schedule as if next week. Friday thru Tuesday 10am to 6:30 Pm and Wednesday open until 1 pm. Steve at Jazzys River House - 12/30 - Strange as it may seem while we are saying Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays it's full on summertime here in Dominical. Winter weather, storms and big swells are behind us for another year. Summer surf has fully arrived along with high season crowds. This morning's mid-tide session was tiny; 2'-3', it was also peaky and glassy and very slow and mellow. Longboards were everywhere, noserides were common and the price was the wait. Guess you could call it social surfing - sitting on your board catching up on gossip and telling stories, killing time waiting for the next set. Playa Hermosa South and Dominicalito the same just smaller as usual. Punta Dominical may not see another surfer in the water till the rainy season begins.
Quepos/Manuel Antonio
Luis at Manuel Antonio Surf School - 12/29 - Hola and happy new year! The waves in Manuel Antonio are very small right now. About waist high at most. Some slightly bigger sets were coming in a little bit midday. There looks to be a swell coming on Tuesday. The best place to surf is Playitas.

Surf Forecast.com - 1/1 - Four feet at 8 seconds ENE swell continues through Saturday and then picks up to 5 feet for Sunday til Tuesday. Expect surf in the chest to head high range with a few bigger sets on the reefs.
